STATEMENT FROM THE IOWA WRESTLING PROGRAM
IOWA CITY, Iowa –

Former University of Iowa wrestler and current Hawkeye Wrestling Club member Jeremiah Moody has been diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma.

Moody is expected to begin a six-month treatment plan starting in mid-October at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

"I do not have any negative emotions towards it," said Moody. "I know it is going to be hard, but I am always going to be smiling through the hard things in life. I am excited to have a target and to have a plan to reach that target. Dr. Eric Mou and the medical staff at UIHC share the same plan. We are going to beat this, and we are going to inspire others to do the same thing."

"Jeremiah Moody has always had a colorful approach to life and that spirit will benefit him in the days ahead. He has a positive outlook. He has a plan. He has our unconditional support, and he will come out on top," said Iowa head coach Tom Brands.

Moody is a native of Cambridge, Wisconsin. He joined the Hawkeye wrestling program in 2015 and was a four-year letter-winner from 2017-20. He won 35 career matches and was a member of the University of Iowa Dean's List. He won the UWW Junior Nationals in 2018 and won a gold medal at the 2018 Junior Pan American Championships.

Moody graduated in 2020 with degrees in philosophy and sport and recreation management. He has been a member of the Hawkeye Wrestling Club since graduating in 2020.

A GoFundMe page is being created in Moody's name to provide financial support for his medical expenses.

Jeremiah started wrestling as a freshman in high school. Became a 3 time fargo all American. He actually skipped a grade when he moved to Cambridge. He was very young for his age.

He is a great kid and tireless worker. Has accomplished many things on and off the mat and is as genuine of a person that you will ever meet. He loved how wrestling challenged him and he never backed down from a fight. Cancer has it's hands full! I put my money on Jeremiah!
