Please make your nominations for team of the just completed week.

Stratford was a great showing for them but was still expected. Melrose Mindoro/GET winning the Northern Badger over the main powers in SV/E, Boyceville, Niellsville, River Falls, was a little surprising and great effort by them.

NWIS

Nobody expected Stratford to have a serious threat at Bi-state.
And nobody expected MMGET to beat all those ranked teams to win Northern Badger.
MMG has to be headline. And no question Sarbacker WOTW.

Stoughton- they went and danced with the big boys in Pennsylvania. Rock solid third place finish and only three points out of second! Impressive!

Who were the bug boys in PA that Stoughton beat?

It's very strenuous!

Opinions are not facts. Because two people differ in opinions doesn't make one of them wrong.

Looks like they beat 29 teams from PA. Nazareth finished just behind Stoughton. Stoughton was 4th.

Thanks Jimmy

Stoughton finished in 3rd place - 3 points behind PA's #19 Easton (Guessing their jumping up in the rankings in PA) -  The champions were PA's #5 North Hampton.

Stoughton finished ahead of #12 Nationally Ranked / #2-AAA in PA Nazerath and and also ahead of 7 Pennsylvania ranked teams in their two divisions  & 1 New Jersey ranked team:  #12-AAA Central Dauphin, #8-AAA Council rock south, #13-AA Freedom, #9-AA North Lebanon, #15-AA Northwestern Lehigh, #3-AA Saucon Valley, #15-AAA Wilson West Lawn, #15 NJ - Phillipsburg

Congrats!!!!

MMGET winning the Northern badger with two starters out, over all all of those ranked teams, is no question the team of the week. With all due respect for Stratford, A loaded Stratford team, even with some starters out, winnng bistate is not a big surprise.

Agree Bronco. Stratford did what they were supposed to do. I wouldn't have guessed MMGET would even be top 3. Congrats to them.

OK guys, first off, congratulations to Stratford and Stoughton on very impressive showings!
Now lets put this all in perspective. Wisconsin is as good a wrestling state as there is in the country, certainly in the top tier. This includes Minnesota, Iowa, Pennsylvania, or New Jersey. Our state ranked teams will compete with and beat many other state ranked teams at any given time or tournament as proven by the most recent Christmas tournament in Minnesota, the bistate Classic in Wisconsin, and the Bethlehem Holiday Classic in PA. Stratford and Stoughton went to there respectful tournament and did what they always do, which is give a very impressive showing by beating many state ranked teams...this is what they do!
Now lets go back a week and do a confidence poll, in order of confidence where do you rank these teams and how they will finish. Straford at the Bistate with several highly ranked state powers, Stoughton at the Bethlehem Holiday Classic with several highly ranked state powers, or MMGET at the Northern Badger with several highly ranked state powers? First question most of you will ask is what the heck is a MMGET?...be honest:)! I think most would agree, MMGET would finish dead last, maybe without a vote, in this poll. Now back to the question at hand, who had the most impressive one week (tournament) showing? the teams that do what they always do? or the team that never has, but did?

Stoughton without a doubt is team of the week.

shouldvewrestled

I would say this. If we base it on strength of tournament every time you will only get a handful of teams always being the "team of the week."  Stoughton going out to PA was the best way for them to get better to challenge themselves with their level of competition needed.  Northern Badger for MM/GET is the same thing to them as going to PA is for Stoughton.

Not that being deemed "team of the week" wins you anything but for some smaller lesser known schools, this could be the cherry on top to the highlight of their year.
