If the the USC was during the match, it would be match points.   Obviously not the case.
After the match, first USC is 1 team point.    The next USC is 2 team points.   1+2=3

Not knowing exactly what happened, but if a kid gets 2 unsportsmanlike penalties isn't he disqualified? ? If so, isn't the wrestler disqualified from individual Sectionals if he qualified?

I was following along on track and at one point it said -3 team points, then it got changed to -2 a bit later.

I was following on Track and definitely wish I was in the gym to watch Gtown and Arrowhead! Congrats Gtown

The shove was definitely after the match. The referee docked the team point and talked to the wrestlers. It's a tough situation but the referee needs to control the situation at hand.

Then the wrestler ran off the mat and sort of pumped his hands/taunted the Gtown crowd. I don't know, could the ref have docked the team instead of him individually? That would be nice as I hope everyone can wrestle come individual sectionals.

The only way 2 team points can happen is if it was two different people.    Wrestler A lost a team point and wrestler B lost a team point.    It could even be Wrestler A lost a team point and then a coach lost a team point.

But if it is ever the same person, then it is 1 point the first time and 2 points the next time (1+2=3 total).

Anyone know if this was streamed anywhere?

Ending score of that match is 1-0 after two ride out and the Bayport kid wins off a stall call.  That sends them to team state
Great dual, the stall call was completely undeserving and made no sense.  Too bad the ref needed to make it about him in the 3rd period. He's a good ref too, just lost his head.

Yes, there should've been 3 team points deducted. It was a clerical error. Essentially, because it was a second consecutive act of USC after the match, the wrestler is effectively assessed a flagrant misconduct.

Can the Arrowhead 152 wrestle at Sectionals Saturday?

pitman

He should be out. If I understand the rules correctly.

It is 1 point.  But I think in the case of Arrowhead, it happened two times.

Good ref?  The guy is a very good college ref and referees the national tournaments in college.  As far as high school officials, he is easily in the top 5 in the state .  Ask any coach.

As for the stall calls, did you notice how the Rapids coaches did NOT complain?

Wonder why that is?  It's because they knew it was the right call.

First, the Rapids kid was warned in the second period for dropping down and hanging onto an ankle when he was riding.  Besides being a textbook example of stalling, the kid was verbally warned that he had to work to improve and he did nothing .  Easy call there and it was only a warning.

Then, in the 3rd period with the Rapids kid on bottom, they had to stop for blood time.  The referee TOLD Coach Benitz that his kid needed to wrestle because he had already been warned for stalling.

When they restart, the Rapids kid was clammed up and only holding onto the BayPort kid's hands.  The referee gave ANOTHER verbal warning that he had to improve......and the Rapids kid responded by balling up even tighter.

Textbook stalling and the Rapids coaches knew it as well.

Save your criticism for another referee.  That referee made the correct call.

Wait, so if ONE Wrestler gets hit once and then they get hit again, is it 2 team points?

Chris...we got it. There's something we don't know yet and I doubt Arrowhead is too eager to find out at this point.

The Arrowhead coach ran out onto the mat to help deescalate the situation from the video I saw. Did the coach lose a team point? Germantown wrestler appeared to stuffing head aggressively but legally at end of match as Arrowhead kid was holding onto leg. Shove was somewhat predictable IMO.
