Taking away opportunities from kids. Not good for the sport.

As long as we are keeping score, I've got something to prove

I'm all for an odd number.  No more tie breaking headaches.

Same number of opportunities. There's this thing called JV for those who aren't on varsity.

No actually there are 40 less state qualifiers with 13 weight classes, 16 less sectional champions, etc.

Ah, the old "it's not an opportunity if you aren't getting a spot at State" argument. Bullet proof.

Never had a problem whether it be 12, 13 or 14 weight classes.  I just don't understand the weights picked.

Why not the college weights and add 3.

106 112 118 125 133 141 149 157 165 174 184 197 285.  Fair to the little guys along with the some tough brackets at 197 and 285.

The closest weight difference should always be at the bottom not the middle.  Making the larger weight gaps at the bottom makes sense based off of the min weight and weight descent plans.

My guess is that it will not decrease the number of forfeits appreciably.  It will certainly decrease the number of state qualifiers and place winners, and the number of section qualifiers and place winners.  It will result in a higher percentage of lost varsity opportunities than a decrease in forfeits.

What really matters (at least to those who seem preoccupied with duals) is that dropping a weight class would likely not change the outcome of many if any, duals.

Don't think this changes forfeits. This will affect individuals. Want better duals? Go to 12 weight classes and get rid of 106 and 195. Individual tournaments shouldn't be affected.
