What about Hilger??

I have to say, the group has seemingly quickly turned its back on Badger alum Trent Hilger, who just won the World Team Trials event. I suspect that had it been any other Badger alum (who did not go on to another Big Ten WTC) would be buried in praise right about now. The Gophers do well with heavyweights - period...and Hilger is proof of that. He has raised his game since graduating from Wisconsin as a four-time AA. Granted, the trial competitors didn't have some of the very best US heavyweights entered (but they await in the final trials), but you can only beat who stands in front of you.

While it will still be a tall order to make the eventual US team at heavyweight, he is indeed doing everything he can. I for one am proud to still call him a Badger.

There were a lot of guys at the trials with Wisconsin ties in one way or another. Hilger wasn't the only person who didn't get love from this weekend.
