True. Lots going into that also. Family money maybe some insurance settlement.

What I am saying is most programs are not making money but are still giving out huge NIL deals. I am all for the athletes getting a chunk of it but if the program is losing money how does that look to the administration's that kids are making huge amounts and the school is losing on that sport. How long is it going to be that administration just asks for programs to fund them selves? Probably over the top I am but still that thought comes to mind.

Most likely not an insurance settlement since he wrestled this year. Money from a parent is limited to a gift tax limit, unless they have been paying him annually. Starocci claimed the $1.3M he was getting was low. We ill never know unless, someone in the IRS squeals on him  ;D

How people aquire money can be done several way. Just saying. Also parents can build a house for a child and over time the child can take it over.

I know who and what you are talking about. Maybe he has a business also. Ya good for him and I hope he enjoys his new digs!

A parent can give a child as much money as they want.  The gift tax limit defines how much of that money is tax free, the rest would be taxable.  So maybe if they have enough cash that they're giving it to their son to build a house, maybe they aren't worry about taxes.

The four major College Conference Commissioners were on FOX news last night and they are basically begging for congress to get involved. Push for National Standard.

Current pay for starting football players per conference:

Big 12
3.3 million
ACC
4.6 million
Big 10
5.2 million
SEC
14.4 million

SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey, ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips, Big Ten Conference Commissioner Tony Petitti, and Big 12 Conference Commissioner Brett Yormark joined Special Report for our Common Ground segment tonight to discuss the changes in the college athletics landscape.

Quote from: dad 2 5 on April 07, 2025, 06:53:24 PMA lot of big time transfers happen but cricket out of Wisconsin. Come on Badgers, go get some!
Acquiring wrestlers through the transfer portal is not as straightforward as in professional sports' free agency. Due to roster limits, each addition necessitates releasing a current team member. Moreover, with a youthful team like the Badgers', our approach is particularly nuanced. Historically, the Badgers have addressed critical gaps by recruiting transfers in weight classes lacking alternative options, such as Weiler and Sebastian.

Considering that most portal candidates offer only a year of eligibility, coaches must carefully evaluate whether this short-term solution outweighs developing our young roster players over 2-3 years. Additionally, the financial demands associated with proven wrestlers in the portal present a significant obstacle for the Badgers.

But it seems there are a couple glaring holes in the line up that need to be filled
