With the current state of college athletics, I'm sure there will be others as well.

I'm pretty sure he may be graduating, I'm pretty sure he was out there on Sr night which surprised me as I didn't think he was that old.

Also with Goebel qualifying for ncaa and George coming back from injury, those two weights will be a bit crowded.

That is correct. He is listed on the portal as a graduate.

A lot of big time transfers happen but cricket out of Wisconsin. Come on Badgers, go get some!

Ledger

They could've had AJ Ferrari.  With Jon Reeder and big Tony I'm surprised that didn't happen.

I believe the Badgers have been in a couple. I also think what it cost is out of the Badgers realm also.

The team can only get better next year and I believe they will make improvements.

Any word about the topic of this thread? Is Cale Anderson latched on and signed anywhere?

Acquiring wrestlers through the transfer portal is not as straightforward as in professional sports' free agency. Due to roster limits, each addition necessitates releasing a current team member. Moreover, with a youthful team like the Badgers', our approach is particularly nuanced. Historically, the Badgers have addressed critical gaps by recruiting transfers in weight classes lacking alternative options, such as Weiler and Sebastian.

Considering that most portal candidates offer only a year of eligibility, coaches must carefully evaluate whether this short-term solution outweighs developing our young roster players over 2-3 years. Additionally, the financial demands associated with proven wrestlers in the portal present a significant obstacle for the Badgers.

They were never in the mix for AJ, especially with what he is supposedly getting in NIL payments.

So - what is AJ Ferrari getting in NIL payments?  What are the rumors?  Just curious.

I have heard 500k to 1.2 over 2 years. Who knows. I just cannt believe that wrestlers can generate that kind of money to make up million dollar deals they get. This isn't football.

When a wrestler builds a house while still in college, there is more NIL money than you think.

True. Lots going into that also. Family money maybe some insurance settlement.

What I am saying is most programs are not making money but are still giving out huge NIL deals. I am all for the athletes getting a chunk of it but if the program is losing money how does that look to the administration's that kids are making huge amounts and the school is losing on that sport. How long is it going to be that administration just asks for programs to fund them selves? Probably over the top I am but still that thought comes to mind.

Most likely not an insurance settlement since he wrestled this year. Money from a parent is limited to a gift tax limit, unless they have been paying him annually. Starocci claimed the $1.3M he was getting was low. We ill never know unless, someone in the IRS squeals on him  ;D

This is a real possibility. If any program can shell out over a million dollars for an athlete, why can't they pay for travel, etc.?
As long as we are keeping score, I've got something to prove
