I know I posted this within another topic, but it deserves its own. Looks like the Badgers are picking up a lot of in-state recruits.  I've noted the club/academy each wrestler is associated with, since this always seems to be a hot topic.

2025 Recruits:

Tyson Waughtel- IL.  Most wins in state history.  Just won NHSCA Senior Nationals this past weekend at 120.  Purler Academy.

Roen Carey- Mineral Point.  D3 State Champ 144.  Sarbacker Academy.

Devin Bobzien- Milton. D1 State Champ 138.  Sarbacker Academy.

Caleb Dennee- Marshfield. Ranked 9th Nationally by Flo 175.  Crass Trained.

Tyson Imhoff- Iowa grant. State Champ D3 157.  Sarbacker Academy.

Peter  Tomasevic - Freedom. State Champ D2 132.  AWA.

Collin McDowell- Arrowhead. 3rd place D1 State 150. AWA

2026-

Hunter Stevens - Mount Horeb.  I think he wrestles at 141. Sarbacker Academy.
Eli Leonard - Mount Horeb.  Ranked 8th Nationally by Flo at 175. Sarbacker Academy.

It'll be interesting to see how Dennee and Leonard do since Flo has Liam Crook from Kaukauna ranked nationally at 7th, Leonard ranked 8th, and Dennee ranked 9th at 175.  Crook is a Virginia commit.  Crook and Leonard are both 2026 commits and Dennee is a 2025 commit.

And, since I mentioned clubs/academies, it's worth noting some of the recent Badger's affiliations:  Reid Spurley - Sebolt Academy, Wyatt Ingham - Pinnacle, Cody Goebel - AWA, and Elliott Biba - Sarbacker Academy.

I do like to see local kids wrestling for the Badgers. I actually prefer seeing that to seeing a bunch of out of state kids that are more talented.

That being said, I doubt current national rankings or other objective rankings from people outside of WI projects any of these 2025 kids to be on the Big 10 podium, much less NCAA.

Looks to be a little more talent, on average, for 2026. Who knows if WI will even have a program by then though.

I guess we'll just have to let them get in the room and see if they can get good enough, huh?

Of this group does anyone start? Is there an impact guy in this group?

Start as a true freshman or start ever?

For 2025 I wouldn't think so. I think they are pretty set 25, 33, 49, 65, 74, 97 and HWT and I do not see anyone coming in who would win a spot at 41, 57 or 84. I guess Dennee would have a shot at 84 but would have to be a clear cut upgrade for them not to redshirt. It seems like the plan is to use the available dates for freshmen and conserve the year for the most part.
