Well, 29th place at the NCAA's..
Now what?  I would love to hear what Bono's plan is to improve next years team. Bring in some transfers???

There was a lot of teams that finished ahead of Bucky, that I'm sure get no more financial backing than us.

While nothing is a done-deal at this point in time, consider the following (nothing to the contrary is currently in the news): Fugitt returns along with Nicolar (one match away from AA) and Zargo and Amos are supposed to be back in the saddle. Add in young line-up that did show some life as the season wore on. Could that lineup improve on a 29th place finish?

While there is a lot of time between now and next season and a lot can happen, at this moment you have a real chance to see a glass that is half-full or half-empty. Your choice

I was waiting for the Zango/Amos comment. I hope that is true but I just can't see it.

I guess things are already looking up.  I thought we were 31st.  As far as financials... at least we are top 10 in coaches salary.

It will take a lot more to get a quality coach, if Madison can get one to come.

4 WI high school wrestlers in the finals. None of them attend UW. Plus a National Champion that left UW. Time to make a change.

I agree. Ben Askren has to buy in to Badger wrestling and I don't believe he ever will unless, he picks the coach. He has the red (deleted word) for Wisconsin.

This was clearly a rebuilding year. It was supreme exciting watching Zan and Nicolar wrestle at the national tournament.  They both made exceptional progress since the beginning of the year as well as Goedel and Ingram. With Zargo and Amos coming back according to Coach Bono yesterday I am super excited for next year.  I wish the neighsayers would keep their comments to themselves. Bashing the coaching staff does nothing to make the team better!!!  Go Badgers!!!

So we shouldn't say anything when they are successful either? With success comes credit, with failure comes blame.

F the naysayers. Seriously.

No one, and I mean no one, had Zan Fugitt placing at all, much less that high. We had high hopes for Rivera but not sure he'd win matches.

Try and be happy once in a while. It's a game changer.
As long as we are keeping score, I've got something to prove

I get that Fugitt and Rivera were bright spots, but the team was in the bottom of the Big Ten, and the state's best wrestlers are not choosing UW. That's just the facts and that is the state of the program under Bono. Can anyone say the team is better now than when Bono was hired?

Huh!  After Crookham took an injury year, 133 was so wide open that anyone in the field could have AA'd and I wouldn't have been too surprised.  Fugitt has talent (he was a top 50 recruit), was coached by world team member Gross and he had a nice run.  He did place a bit higher than I expected but certainly his garnering an AA wasn't too surprising.

Personally, I was a bit shocked. He's not the one I thought might have had the run - but great to see!
