Looks like a very strong tournament.

Indianapolis, Grand Valley State, St, Cloud State and McKendree along with Parkside have brought most of their teams.

Quite a few wrestlers from Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

The Koch Open was certainly a nice regional open that provided for a nice mix of top level DII and backup DI talent to get on the mat together. That said, "back in the day," The Northern Open ruled the early season opens  followed by any number of others, e.g., the UNI open, the Midlands, etc., that, in addition to DIII and DII talent, saw top DI athletes as well as guys on the world teams show up for a "free-for-all." That's where Kemp (as a sophomore) picked off Gable (after he had just retired from formal competition). Does anybody know what changed in the system that essentially eliminated all of those open-type meets?
Merely having an opinion doesn't necessarily make it a good one

I think the qualification/seeding formula changed things.
