Whats everyone's thoughts after watching this past weekend and the previous dual? I think this maybe the WORST Wisconsin Badgers team of all time. I'm looking at UW-Parkside and UW-Lacrosse, they would beat the badgers today. It's time for the Bono era to be done!

We should hire Ben Askren, Max Askren, Nick Becker, Alex Dieringer, or Dave Malecek. Anyone else anyone can think of?

UW-L beat the Badgers in a dual in the 1990's. Can't remember the exact year.

Bring in whomever you want. The speculation is that the current financial state of the sport will never allow a program like Wisconsin to compete with those programs that have "deep pockets". Maybe the best outcome is to recruit a few Dean Hamiti's that somehow flew under the radar of the big boys, and then watch them leave after a couple years.

How about this: Hire an Askren, leverage his relationship with Missouri to turn UW into a feeder program for the Tigers? UW gets the 1B tier wrestlers. Askren coaches them up into solid college wrestlers, and they transfer to Missouri after a couple years. (I write this partially tongue-in-cheek).

It looks like we have a good opportunity for improvement! Let's go Bucky!

Ouch

Sudden Death

This is a very young team and I'm looking forward to seeing them battle and I think they will be better than most are saying.

Hedgehog

Young team for sure, and I think some of these young Badgers will exceed these early rankings. Excited to watch them compete!

Gutwrench

My observation over the past couple of years is that the team is usually pretty competitive.  Yes we've had some studs here and there earning those bonus points, and we've had a few guys giving up those bonus points to the super high end opponents.  However a lot of the other matches have always been very competitive.  I'm proposing that the coaching staff has a lot to do with that.  Either through training, coaching, motivation, or a combination of it all, I think the UW wrestlers seem to be pretty prepared to compete.  I'm interested to see how this year's team does.  The expectations this year for the team are not very high, mainly because we don't have the Barnett's and Hamiti's anymore, but maybe what we do have are guys that are going to go out there and scrap for everything they've got.  The corner to turn will be getting those 2 and 3 point losses to wins.

Army Ant

Just turn it into a club sport. We should either be committed to a winning team or just forget about the whole thing. Not something in between like we have right now.

Badgers lost 1st dual to Ohio...Ohio University.  The coaches and bench were silent and defeated thru out whole dual.

Wrestlstat has it neck and neck against Rider...Rider.

Imagine if I got on here 5 years ago and said, "hey, we just lost to Ohio, and are a toss up to Rider, isnt that great!"

Yep, Past couple years Badgers are competitive at times due to 2-3 studs carrying team.  They are all gone.

I do think Nicolar, Mechler, and maybe Condon will climb the rankings this year.

You are correct the coaches get 100% credit for this team...which is around 50th ranked in nation and at the bottom of big ten.

Maybe MacIntosh is more to blame for not making a change.

Seems like the aforementioned McDaddy is more concerned about the status of the football squad. With conference mergers, NIL, and a corrupt playoff scheme, we can all agree that NCAA football has gone to he**. At least wrestling offers every individual from any team the chance to compete to win!!
It ain't the six minutes...it's what happens in that six minutes
