Quote from: No one on October 07, 2024, 09:11:16 AMWhy is anyone's responsibility to "fix" the program beyond the program/school itself?  If I am displeased with the Packers, am I obliged to contact Brian Gutekuntz before I can voice displeasure with a result?  Does anyone imagine that an AD from a Big Ten school will be fielding calls from random people and making leadership decisions based on those interactions?  It's really bizarre to me that people on a forum are somehow responsible for fixing a program they are otherwise disconnected from.  If an individual feels compelled to "do something to help", then great, do so.  But I don't think the rest of the forum should be told to provide an account of what they did "to help".

No one, you are missing the boat. Nobody likes complainers who offer no solutions and all they do is complain. McIntosh holds the program in his hands, and he is solely responsible for the current success or failures of the wrestling program. How do we know if he has not tried to change the direction with a different coach? To say he will not respond to a request is an assumption based without facts. I am not saying he will agree with your assessment, but at least you might get some insight on his beliefs. Try emailing him and see what happens.

By the way, you are wrong on Brian Gutekunst.

Lol, how can I be wrong about Gutekuntz? I said that a person does not have to contact him to complain about the Packers.  How is that incorrect?  Isn't that exactly what happens everyday on sports talk radio?

This is a forum, it's literally a place to voice opinions.  That's it's primary function.

As I said, an individual can do as much or nothing if they choose.  No one here is obliged to help any program in any way to be worthy of expressing an opinion.  And if a person chooses not to, their opinion is no less valuable than anyone else's.

If people want to complain, that's their right to voice it.  It's your right to disagree.  They don't have to meet some standard for "trying to help" before voicing an opinion.

Tuco

So you like to complain!  Why don't you try problem solving?  The world is littered with complainers and very few problem solvers. Thank you for clarifying the type of individual you are!

Tuco, I have to say you crack me up. By the way I have contacted the AD at times have not got much back on detail which does not surprise me. There is zero reason for him to reveal what is going on on his level.

But I will go back to my statement, question, and that is we are right on top of the beginning of practice and the season and is anyone hearing anything or excited about the season coming up? DEAD AIR....

I am super excited to see what OSU does with all the changes they made

I am glad you emailed the AD.  He needs to know how the fans feel.  I don't expect him to reveal his plan, but he needs to know how the wrestling community feels. With the Badgers projected to T-12 in the Big Ten men's basketball season, I am sure he is getting a ton of emails.  After 40 years in the corporate world I have found that complainers never solve problems.  Only problem solvers solve problems, so thank you for contacting the AD in a professional manner and relaying your feelings.

LOL I literally didn't complain about anything.  I simply stated that people have the right to voice opinions as they wish.  Freedom of speech.  They are not required to email or reach out to anyone.

Personally, I really enjoy watching high-level wrestling.  I honestly couldn't care less what singlet they are wearing.  As such, I have no reason to complain about the Badgers or anyone else.  The wrestling is what I enjoy, not the laundry.

Gutwrench

Does UW have a national finalist this season?  Probably not.
Does UW have an all American this season? Maybe?
Does UW have a roster of wrestlers I'm interested in seeing how well they do and how much they can improve?  Absolutely.

I support and cheer for all the wrestlers and coaches that wear the W.  Keep working hard Badgers!  I recognize your efforts and I'll be rooting for you.

Healthy and happy

There is truth to the idea that most forums are a way to post opinions.  Opinions can be looked at different ways:

1. Those opinions based on some level of fact or truth. There likely is some firsthand knowledge of the situation or individual expertise to base an opinion

2. Opinions that more based on speculation/indirect knowledge of the program. A person using their experience and/or potential to read between the lines to form an opinion

3. Opinions based on emotions or bias.  No real knowledge what is going on. Information that may come from unreliable sources or social media

However, the bottom line is that these are all opinions because none of us are privy to the numerous daily internal interactions, conversations and decisions that occur.  We would likely have a different viewpoint if we knew these facts.  Athletic teams keep a vast majority of these facts private. It is not really meant for public consumption.  The Student Athlete and Department have that right and should keep these things in house

Hopefully there are a few wins in there for the Badgers

26-9 Ohio according to Stat. Ouch

bbguylikeswrestling

I think Condon and Russo win although I think some of the other losses are going to have a wider margin than WrestleStat predicts
