Any school making wrestling a priority will look more appealing but how many will that be  It will be interesting but I am thinking no more than maybe 10 programs will offer more than 10 scholarships.  Will schools like Edinboro or Lehigh invest in wrestling?  If they offer 15-20 scholarships will they be better than Big Ten teams like UW cutting scholarships.  Problem is that number of scholarships for men and women are going to have to remain even. For every scholarship you want added in a non-revenue sport like wrestling you would have to add another scholarship in a non-revenue women's sport also.

UW maybe be in a better spot than other Big Ten schools simply because we already do not have a baseball team.  Will other Big Ten teams drop wrestling or baseball?

It is my belief that there will be much fewer D1 wrestlling scholarships available as a whole across the country going forward.  Scholarships in all non-revenue sports are going to decline as a whole and many sports will get cut or pushed to "club" level.
Of Course, this is only my opinion and no one elses!

NAIA will be a great option. We've been looking to see what's out there ourselves. His commitment to Virginia is still valid. But we are planning for a complete fall out as well. Can't trust the NCAA at this point.

What exactly are you confused about. The statement is pretty clear.

Good thinking!

I believe if the Badgers footbal team stumbles to the finish line this year, we are going to see some major problems in secondary sports this year. Under the new rules sports like football have to share way less money to other programs and we all know that footbal at wisconsin basically funds most programs. So if the football makes little money they just may keep it all! That would be a major problem for wrestling.

This isn't all the NCAA either. They realize the problems of court rulings and all the stuff that are coming down!

Okay - thanks. That helps with context. I live out-state and do not know more than a couple of posters personally, i.e., beyond their poster-name.

Gutwrench

Great to see the team competing again.  All the guys put in so much work, I'm sure it's nice to go against a dude with a different colored singlet for a change.  Big wins by a few of the guys, and Melcher mixing it up with a highly ranked guy.  Keep building Badgers!
