Performed or underperformed? Like to hear your thoughts. I thought it was a disappointment for the men.
Really? Think, Wow!

Ledger

I was predicting 6 medals in men's freestyle with at least one gold, plus the team score win.  So third place is a disappointment especially considering Russia wasn't there.  I will say that Spencer Lee was a nice surprise, but Dake should've been a gold medalist, and Snyder should've at least medaled.  I think Snyder got a tough draw with the 2 best wrestlers being on his side of the bracket.

Ghetto

This may come off harsh, and I love how Kyle Dake wrestles, but he doesn't wrestle the same way internationally compared to how dominant he is in the US. He's underperformed compared to at least my expectations.

Aaron Brooks stopped wrestling for a brief moment, and it cost him.

Spencer Lee was a surprise. I wasn't sure he'd medal at all.

At least one American medaled at 65. We never medal there. Granted it was for Puerto Rico, but it's a medal just the same.

Snyder has been Captain America for so long you just expect him to medal every time. Not sure if he's going to hang it up, or if he will continue through a world championship next year, but what a great career he's had.

I wonder if Covid had any bearing on young guys development, but Taylor, Dake, Burroughs are getting up there. I know they are some of the greatest, and it's hard to beat guys of that calibur, but usually father time catches up and there's a guy in line. At some weights, there is no 1a. There's a definite step down.

To answer the question directly, it's a let down. No Russian team and no gold medals. Disappointing.
As long as we are keeping score, I've got something to prove

I thought the women did well. No surprises by men's Greco. USA just doesn't do well in Greco. Pretty disappointed in Freestyle. In Dake's semi he looked like he was gassed. I know they kept talking about his defense, but I don't see how you can keep letting a guy get your leg over and over and expect to win. He looked way better in his bronze medal match. Overall, I think it was a disappointing performance for Team USA and I'd bet most would agree. I saw a few posts on the intermat forum suggesting that training at the PSU RTC may be a bit of an issue. I have no idea if that would be a reason or anything to back up if that's the cause, just saying I saw that mentioned.
