Has Dean improved at all since his freshmen year?  I'm not convinced as he seems to be the same wrestler who destroys lesser opponents and struggles with the top guys.  He's even lost ground against Olejnik, who he beat prior to this year and hopefully can get a win over him to AA.

Ghetto - so that cost him the match?  Come on man.  He scored zero points and and lost 5-0.  He didnt lose 1 to 0.  A stall call woudnt have done much of anything for him.  Enough with the excuses.  Got rode like a horse just like Messenbrink did to him in the 3rd period of Big Tens and simply couldnt get out. Laid on his stomach - period.  Can't get over the hump and beat guys just above him.

Quote from: BadgerOne on March 22, 2024, 01:25:04 PMCarr looked like the superior wrestler.  Dean just keeps trying his old bag of tricks that haven't ever worked on Carr.  Dean never looked like he was in the match.

Both of these are true. I guess my point is that Carr didn't look that impressive in this match. He didn't need to.

Hamiti overwhelms guys with motion and grabs an ankle. That is his go to offense. Not sure that will work against the elite guys in the weight.
As long as we are keeping score, I've got something to prove

This is not about the badgers but about many wrestlers from different teams.  Sometimes I am amazed in watching the lack of desperation in some of these matches or what looks like lack of effort.  Wrestling is SO HARD that I think guys are just so beat up at this time of the year and almost seem to wrestle like zombies.  Mentally and physically drained. I see guys on bottom down 1 point with restart with 20 seconds left and they barely move.
Of Course, this is only my opinion and no one elses!

I would agree with this assessment 100 percent.

I don't think it cost him the match.

Carr's first shot was impressive.  He was in deep before Hamiti even knew what hit him.

Wrestling used to be about strength and technique.  I think it really is about quick explosviness now as that is how you get angles.  That is the #1 thing I would be looking for in recruiting.

Maylor was majored by Army.

Who knows the rules in Barnett Quarterfinal?

What would have happened if they confirmed locked hands on review.

Is match over on technical violation?

Makes score tied.

Do they put time back on clock?  If it ends tied is it still riding time?
Of Course, this is only my opinion and no one elses!

DocWrestling

interesting match in 174 consolations that went to 6th OT.  Those guys were exhausted!
Of Course, this is only my opinion and no one elses!

I'm not sure what Hamiti game plan was but it was not very effective

Good fight from Liegel, he put together an impressive season!

DocWrestling

Congrats to Liegel.  Amazing career and amazing season.  Happy for his success and happy he sure helped the Badgers out.  Was a great story.  Is he the only one in family to be a Midlands champ?
Of Course, this is only my opinion and no one elses!

I believe they would have put the point on the board and rolled the clock back to the time of the infraction and restarted with the match tied. If he rides him out he wins with the riding time point if Smith gets out he is ahead by 1 and EB would need to score to win. Match does not end on a technical violation in TB as it would in SV. They wrestle out both 30 second periods unless there is a pin, somehow a tech fall or a DQ.
