Welker Set to Compete at Senior World Team Trials

IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa freshman Kylie Welker will travel to Colorado Springs to compete in the 2023 Senior World Team Trials Challenge Tournament.

The tournament will be held on May 21 at Discovery Canyon High School. Prelims, quarterfinals, semifinals and consolations will take place from 9 a.m. (CT) to 1 p.m. Consolation and consolation finals will begin at 2 p.m. and finals and third place matches are slated to start at 3:30 p.m.

The winner of this tournament will qualify for Final X in Newark, New Jersey, on June 10th. There they will face the winner of the U.S. Open in a best-of-three matchup to decide the Senior World Team Member.

Welker will be competing as the fourth seed at 76kg, securing her qualification after finishing in fifth place at the U.S. Open.
