No. 18 Indiana falls to No. 1 Penn State in Bloomington

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. –––– No. 1 Penn State defeated No. 18 Indiana, 35-8, on Sunday afternoon in Wilkinson Hall.
 
The Hoosiers won the opening two matches at 125 and 133 lbs. to go up 8-0 before Penn State stormed back with a handful of bonus point victories to take control of the dual.
 
After the loss, Indiana's record falls to 7-3 on the year and 3-3 in the Big Ten.
 
KEY MOMENTS
• Jacob Moran defeated Marco Vespa at 125 with a win by tech fall, 18-2 (4:48), to give Indiana a 5-0 opening lead.
• Henry Porter followed Moran's win with a win of his own in a close match vs. Baylor Shunk, going to Sudden Victory, and getting a takedown to seal it, 9-7.
• Indiana senior Luke Baughman and student athletic trainers Madison Kump and David Seghal were recognized prior to the dual for senior day festivities.
• Luke Baughman (157) got to wrestle one final match at Wilkinson Hall in an extra match vs. David Evans. Evans narrowly won by decision 6-2.
 
NOTABLES
• Jacob Moran's (125) win was his 20th of the season and fifth by tech fall.
• Henry Porter (133) improved his season record to 17-6 with his win in Sudden Victory.
• Indiana 
• Joey Showalter (141) made his first appearance in a dual match of his collegiate career.
• Robert Major (165) wrestled in his first Big Ten dual match of his career.

• Indiana Wrestling will be on the road next weekend for two matches in the Great Lakes state as it takes on Michigan State in East Lansing on Friday, Feb. 10 and Michigan in Ann Arbor on Sunday, Feb. 12.
