No. 5 Buckeyes Cruise to 36-3 Win over Michigan State
Ohio State takes on No. 1 Penn State Friday at Covelli on BTN (7 p.m.) 

COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 5 Ohio State (10-1, 4-0) earned its second win of the weekend with a 36-3 win over Michigan State (8-5, 1-5) Sunday at the Covelli Center (Att: 3,911).
 
How it Happened
 
125 | No. 10 Malik Heinselman (OSU) def. Tristan Lujan (MSU) | D, 3-2
After a scoreless first period, Lujan chose bottom and escaped for a 1-0 lead to open the second. That advantage held until Heinselman earned a reversal to open the third to gain a 2-1 lead. Lujan tied it at 2-all with an escape but with a point for riding time, Heinselman got the win by decision, 3-2.
 
133 | No. 9 Jesse Mendez (OSU) def. No. 18 Rayvon Foley (MSU) | MD, 10-2
With just over two minutes gone in the first, Mendez scored the bout's first takedown for a 2-0 lead. Mendez deferred and Foley chose bottom to start the second. Foley got the escape point but Mendez got it right back when Foley was called for a potentially dangerous hold. Leading 3-1, Mendez added a late takedown to lead 5-1 heading into the third. Another takedown with 40 seconds to go made it 7-1 Buckeyes. A takedown just before the final horn plus a point for riding time gave Mendez a win by major decision, 10-2.
 
141 | No. 18 Dylan D'Emilio (OSU) def. Jordan Hamdan (MSU) | Fall, 6:23
D'Emilio escaped early in the second to earn the first point of the bout and quickly added a takedown for a 3-0 lead. After a Hamdan escape, D'Emilio added a takedown to lead 5-1 after two periods. D'Emilio then go the pin at 6:23 for six team points for the Buckeyes.
 
149 | No. 3 Sammy Sasso (OSU) def. Peyton Omania (MSU) | Fall, 4:35
A Sasso takedown followed but an Omania escape made it 2-1 Buckeyes. Another Sasso takedown at the midway point in the first made it 4-1. With a four-point near fall, Sasso increased the lead to 8-1 after three minutes. Sasso escaped to open the second then added a takedown to up his lead to 11-1. The pin came for Sasso at 4:35 for another six points to the Buckeyes.
 
157 | No. 13 Chase Saldate (MSU) def. No. 23 Paddy Gallagher (OSU) | D, 5-4
Saldate got the first points on a takedown and road out the first to lead 2-0. Choosing bottom to start the second, Saldate added a point with an escape for a 3-0 lead. Another takedown for Saldate made it 5-0 MSU. Gallagher escaped late in the second to head to the third trailing 5-1. Gallagher escaped and got a quick takedown to make it 5-4 and that's when it ended for a Saldate win by decision.
 
165 | No. 9 Carson Kharchla (OSU) def. Caleb Fish (MSU) | D, 7-2
Both wrestlers butted heads 30 seconds into the first period and after a brief delay for evaluation, both returned to the mat to resume the bout. Kharchla got the late takedown to move to the second period with a 2-1 lead. Kharchla score a reversal and two-point near fall to go up 6-1 after two. With a point for riding time, Kharchla won by decision, 7-2.   
 
174 | Isaac Wilcox (OSU) def. Ceasar Garza (MSU) D, 3-1 (TB-2)
There was no score after the first period. Garza escaped to open the second for a 1-0 lead after five minutes. Wilcox, who weighed in at 165, quickly escaped to open the third to tie the bout at 1-all. The match then went to sudden victory and then to overtime where in the second overtime, Wilcox won by decision, 3-1 with a takedown.
 
184 | No. 5 Kaleb Romero (OSU) def. Lucas Daly (MSU) | TF, 21-6
Romero got out to a quick 6-1 lead and then added a takedown and four-point near fall to lead after the first, 14-2. The advantage increased to 18-6 after two before Romero earned the technical fall, 21-6.
 
197 | No. 21 Gavin Hoffman (OSU) def. No. 14 Cameron Caffey (MSU) | D, 3-2
Hoffman scored first with a takedown and led 2-1 after one. Caffrey tied it at 2-all with an escape. Hoffman added a point with an escape to start the third and held on for a 3-2 win by decision.
 
HWT | No. 16 Tate Orndorff (OSU) def. Ryan Vasbinder (MSU) | D, 6-3
Orndorff scored first late in the opening period with a takedown. Leading 2-1, Orndorff escaped halfway through the second for a 3-1 lead. A takedown in the third made it 5-2 Buckeyes. The bout ended with Orndorff winning by decision, 6-3.
