Men's Wrestling Sends Three Through at Pete Willson Invite

WHEATON, Ill. - The UW-Stevens Point men's wrestling team is in 26th place after day one at the Pete Willson Invitational.

Results

Cooper Peterson (Cannon Falls, Minn./Cannon Falls) went 3-1 on the day at 141. He won a major decision to begin the day. He earned another major decision in the consolation bracket with his third win coming by a 6-2 decision.

Brandon Peckham (Plainfield, Wis./Tri-County) won twice in the championship bracket. He picked up a 4-1 decision and an 8-4 decision win. In the quarterfinals, he came up just short in sudden victory fashion.

Blaze Thurber (Nekoosa, Wis./Nekoosa) won a pair of matches in the 133 bracket. He began the day with a win by fall. Then in the consolation bracket, he won a 3-1 sudden victory.

Josh Heuss (Antigo, Wis./Antigo) won twice in the consolation bracket at 174. He earned a 3-1 sudden victory and a 3-1 decision.

Trystan Altensey (Port Byron, Ill./Riverdale) won his first match in the 184 bracket by a 4-2 decision. Ben Gunderson (Shiocton, Wis./Shiocton) won a 5-3 decision in his opening match in the 285 bracket.

Peterson, Peckham and Altensey advanced to wrestle on Saturday (Jan. 28) on day two of the Pete Willson Invite. Action begins at 11:00 a.m.
