Pointers Roll to Victory in Home Finale Against Carthage

STEVENS POINT, Wis. - The UW-Stevens Point men's wrestling team cruised to a 48-8 victory over Carthage in the final home dual of the season.

Luca Paladino (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek) and Graeson Pankratz (Little Suamico, Wis./Oconto Falls) earned wins by forfeit at 125 and 141, respectively. In between, Blaze Thurber (Nekoosa, Wis./Nekoosa) won by fall at 133.

Mohammed Abbasov (Waukesha, Wis./South) also pinned his opponent at 149 to give UWSP a 24-0 lead. Senior Brandon Peckham (Plainfield, Wis./Tri-County) won his final home match with a fall at 3:50 at 165.

Trystan Altensey (Port Byron, Ill./Riverdale) won by fall at 184 to conclude the action on the mat. Cody Weix (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) and Karson Richardson (Tolono, Ill./Unity) picked up forfeit wins at 197 and 285.

The Pointers will dual UW-Whitewater on the road on Friday (Jan. 20) beginning at 6:00 p.m.
