COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 8 Ohio State (8-1, 2-0) got out to a quick lead behind a pin from 184-pounder Kaleb Romero and a 15-0 technical fall victory by heavyweight Tate Orndorff and then finished off the Scarlet Knights (8-2, 0-1) by the score of 27-12 Sunday at the Covelli Center.

184 | No. 5 Kaleb Romero (OSU) def. No. 14 Brian Soldano (RUT) | Fall, 6:46
Romero got the match started with a quick takedown early in the first period. Romero finished off the period with another takedown to lead 4-1 heading into the second. The senior Buckeye then escaped to start the second for a 5-1 lead with two minutes to go in the bout. Romero finished off the match with a pin at 6:46.
 
197 | Gavin Hoffman (OSU) def. Billy Janzer (RUT) | D, 7-3
Hoffman struck first with a hard-fought takedown. Janzer escaped to head to the second with Hoffman leading 2-1. Janzer tied it at 2-all with an escape to start the second. Hoffman went up 4-2 with a takedown. Another Janzer escape made it 4-3 Buckeyes with two minutes left. Hoffman added an escape point for a 5-3 advantage before another takedown made it 7-3 Buckeyes for the win by decision, 8-3 with a point for riding time.
 
HWT | No. 16 Tate Orndorff (OSU) def. John O'Donnell (RUT) | TF, 15-0
Orndorff led 6-0 after the first with a takedown and a four-point near fall. An escape, takedown and point for stalling made it 10-0 Buckeyes going into the third. Orndorff opened the third with an escape, takedown and two-point near fall for the win by technical fall, 15-0. 
 
125 | No. 13 Dean Peterson (RUT) def. Andre Gonzales (OSU) | D, 6-4         
Peterson put two on the board first with a takedown. Gonzales got the late escape to trail 2-1 after the first. A quick OSU escape tied it at 2-all. Peterson went up 5-2 with an escape and takedown to start the third. Gonzales got a point for stalling and then another for an escape but Peterson held on to win by decision with a point for riding time, 6-4.
 
133 | No. 15 Jesse Mendez (OSU) def. No. 14 Joe Heilmann (RUT) | D, 5-1
Mendez scored first with a takedown with under a minute left in the first. He did not allow Heilmann to escape in the second to lead 2-0 headed to the third. Mendez scored a reversal with just over a minute left in the bout for a 4-1 lead after a Heilmann escape. With a point for riding time, Mendez got the win by decision, 5-1.
 
141 | Joseph Olivieri (RUT) def. No. 16 Dylan D'Emilio (OSU)| D, TB-2, 2-1
After a scoreless first, Olivieri scored first with an escape early in the second. D'Emilio tied it at 1-all with an escape of his own. He then got what appeared to be a takedown but it was overturned on video review to send the match into sudden victory tied at 1-all. Neither wrestler scored the rest of the way. Olivieri was credited with the win by decision in a tiebreaker, 1-1.
 
149 | No. 3 Sammy Sasso (OSU) def. Anthony White (RUT) | MD, 11-2
Sasso led 6-2 after the first with three takedowns. The score remained the same after two. Sasso added a quick point with an escape in the third for a 7-2 lead. Sasso added a takedown and a point for stalling and riding time, to win by major decision, 11-2.
 
157 | No. 21 Paddy Gallagher (OSU) def. Andrew Clark (RUT) | D, 4-3   
Clark scored first with a late takedown in the first for the 2-1 lead after a Gallagher escape. Gallagher tied it at 2-all with an escape to open the second. A takedown made it 4-2 Gallagher at the end of two. A Clark escape made it 4-3 Buckeyes. Gallagher held on to win by decision, 4-3.
 
165 | Isaac Wilcox (OSU) def. Connor O'Neill (RUT) | D, 3-2
After a scoreless first, Wilcox escaped to lead 1-0 early in the second. O'Neill tied it with an escape in the third before Wilcox got a takedown for a 3-1 lead with under a minute to go. O'Neill escaped to make it 3-2 Buckeyes. Wilcox held on to win by decision, 3-2.
