There has been a lot of discussion on a couple different strings about top Wisconsin HS wrestlers choosing to wrestle elsewhere. A lot of it has centered around AWA and justifiably so but there are certainly other top S/A's from other clubs choosing to go elsewhere as well.

Obviously the coaching staff needs to continue to build relationships with the HS coaches and do whatever they can to be on good terms with the club coaches but would it not seem that the real answer is just to continue to get better?

By getting the best recruits and transfers they can so that they can compete in the top half of the Big Ten every year, put on exciting duals with bigger crowds, continue to offer other exciting wrestling opportunities (Battle in the River City, Garden State Grapple, Wisconsin Wrestling Showcase etc...) and have 8 to 10 qualifiers, multiple AA's and a few with a shot at the title you make the UW a place where Wisconsin kids want to wrestle. The Badgers have a really exciting team that attacks, competes and they seem to all pull for each other. Young wrestlers will see that and want to be a Badger. Who would not want to train with EB, Austin, DJ, Braxton, Thor etc..

Kind of a chicken or the egg thing but the better they can get the more attractive they are to recruits.
