Indiana Wrestling Hosts Rival Purdue on Saturday

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. –––– Indiana Wrestling (3-3, 1-3) welcomes in-state rival and No. 17 Purdue (8-4, 2-3) for another Big Ten dual. The match is slated for noon on Saturday, Jan. 29 at Wilkinson Hall.

PURDUE PREVIEW:
·       The Boilermakers are coming off a 12-23 loss to No. 8 Wisconsin.
·       Purdue owns a handful of notable wins over No. 9 Nebraska, Illinois, and Duke.
·       A rare and impressive feat, Purdue has eight wrestlers ranked in the national polls.
·       Four of the eight are ranked in the top 20 with No. 9 Kendall Coleman (157) being their highest rated wrestler.
·       Coleman and No. 16 Devin Schroder (125) are the Boilermakers' top two wrestlers and they combine for a 26-6 record.

BUSINESS HANDLED VS. THE TERPS:
·       Indiana earned its first Big Ten win this season, beating the Terrapins, 26-12, at home on Jan. 21.
·       The Hoosiers won seven of the ten bouts in dominant fashion, including two bonus-point victories and one ranked win.
·       Indiana controlled the dual from start to finish, leading at halftime, 17-6, to its eventual 26-12 final score.
·       The win improved Indiana Wrestling's all-time record vs Maryland to 6-0.
·       The 14-point margin of victory was Indiana's largest margin of victory in a Big Ten dual since Indiana's 27-13 win over Maryland in the 2021 season.

ROOKS BROTHERS ROLLING:
·       Brothers Cayden Rooks (141) and Graham Rooks (149) have found their groove as of late.
·       Graham is the winner of his last two duals while Cayden has won his last three, including winning by fall in his most recent bout.
·       Graham is 9-7 and Cayden is 12-4 on the season.

BACK ON TRACK:

·       Jacob Moran (125) turned in his most dominant performance of the season against Maryland, beating Tommy Capul (MD) by TF and a score of 26-8.

·       Coming off a one-point decision loss against Michigan State, Jacob Bullock (285) earned his first ranked victory against Maryland, beating No. 26 Zach Schrader.

HOOSIERS IN THE POLLS:
·       Four Hoosiers were named in the latest InterMat and NCAA Coaches polls.
·       Brock Hudkins is No. 11 in InterMat and No. 12 in the NCAA poll.
·       D.J. Washington placed No. 14 in both polls.
·       Cayden Rooks was No. 27 in the NCAA, and No. 31 in InterMat.
·       Jacob Moran is No. 31 in the NCAA poll.

CHASING PERFECTION:

·       Brock Hudkins (133) enters the weekend with an 8-0 record on the season with a 6-0 record in duals.
·       The graduate student owns a +41 point differential, as well as a major decision, tech fall, and pin to his name this year.
