The coaches Association and the WIAA did an outstanding job this past off season, with the elimination of the dreadful 7&7 rule and finally seeding the state tournament. We will hopefully see a competitive shift over the next few seasons. This should dramatically help duals with allowing more competition for the athletes and not having to make weight just to receive a FF. It will also encourage top tear wrestlers to go head to head at duals to earn those state seeding points. Now if the club coaches stay out of it and don't engineer state to keep there guys from hitting at state we may finally have some elite level finals matches!!!!

NEXT CHANGE THAT HAS TO HAPPEN!!!!
Modify the Decent plan!!! Wisconsin has the worst decent plan in the nation (by far).
The current plan was created and suggested by the Coaches Association (old crew), so the new leadership can bring a new more athlete/coach friendly plan to the WIAA. The current plan is the worst out there and by a mile. Its creating FF, Long term weight cutting and has lead to additional attrition issues.
I will start posting other states plans.
In MN they need to make there STATE weight 50% of there weigh-ins after Jan 15th. So they can be 138 one week and wrestle 145 the next week and back to 138 the next. The kids love not having to make weight every week, especially if there is a good 145 pounder on the other team encouraging a much better match up at the duals (and less FF).

Another change should be the top two teams from each regional go to team sectionals with #1s facing #2s and then a championship. Some of these regionals are going to eliminate deserving teams to have a chance at a"team" championship based on individual accomplishments.

Getting rid of the weight decent plan is a dire must. Now please understand I want to get rid of wisconsin plan and look to a state like Michigan plan instead for an example. This wisconsin plan is way to difficult to have high school kids understand or explain to.

Need to change the out of bounds rule to be like Minnesota, two feet in.  The refs are not consistent with these calls as it stands right now.  Two points of contact, shouldn't be that hard to do.  Reward the person creating action.
