Thanks tyben for starting D1 Regionals thread. Here's a starting point for D2 Regionals discussion.

(Rankings used are Feb 2 rankings)

D2 Regional A1 (@St. Croix Central)- includes 3 ranked teams--- Amery, Baldwin-Woodville & St. Croix Central--- (top 2 ranked teams including defending D2 Team State Champions Amery)...

29 ranked individuals in Regional A1:
106- #7, #8, #12
113- #1, #12
120- #7, #8
126- #11
132- #9, HM
138- #5
145- #9, #12, HM
152- #2, #10, #11
160- #6, #7, #11
170- #1, #5
182- #7
195- #1, #2
220- #1, #11
285- #1, HM

Individual rankings for 3 ranked Teams:
Amery [9 total]: (2)#1, (2)#2, #5, (3)#7, #12
B-W [8]: (2)#1, #8, #9, #11, #12, (2)HM
SCC [6]: #1, #6, #7, #8, #9, #11

That's 5 of 14 #1 ranked wrestlers in the same Regional!!! Weights will of course still shift a bit, but it sure should be some amazing individual matchups. PLUS the #1 vs. #2 ranked teams in the state fighting it out.

Jam-packed regional for sure. Team state title opportunity on the line.

Amery's Ingham is likely going 145 with Simes 160 and Tylee 152... so that changes a few things.

It seems Amery has the upper hand going into regionals, but BW may have some changes happening which could change my opinion.

Yes, despite (as far as one can guess) having everyone back and wrestlers making their final adjustments, Amery had better not sleep on B-W. Plus, lineups are kind of weird. Other than 195, most weight classes don't really match up between them. There may be a couple of humdingers between them, but most of Baldwin's best wrestlers are at different weights than Amery's best wrestlers. Plus with small 7 team format, weird things can happen and bonus points become huge. Should be one whale of a battle!!!

There are 6 teams in this regional. Amery and BW will likely meet in the semi-finals at 138. This was a great match at the conference tournament. Points will be important at every weight class.

You're right, 6 teams. My bad. And yes 138 should be big weight in team competition. Both dual meet and Conf Champ matches were VERY close between Wentz and Schmidt.

Insider info or what you think they'll do?

Did Amery have COVID or injuries last weekend? I noticed they were missing a few individuals from their line up.

From my understanding, Amery will be good to go for regionals.

Simes went to 160 and Tylee went to 152...so Ingham to 145 makes sense, as his minimum weight class is 138 and he can easily make 148.

Makes sense, I just don't think many descent plans would allow him to lose the 6 pounds needed in 2 weeks from the 154 he weighed in at in Ellsworth. Might be able to though. I don't think Tylee will wrestle and Ingham will still be 152, will see come Saturday.
