PAUL

Hello, is it me (which is very possible) or is there a problem with Track Wrestling this morning?  I was going to follow the Badgers throughout the day,  but it seems like the site is not functional or at least not working for the MSU Open.   It is such a great and wonderful site and folks have come to depend on it so much, but it's frustrating when it's down like this (if that's the case).  Go Badgers!

Burwick will have a tough one with Foley coming up.  Would be good to see him hold his own here.

I see Wick is wrestling in this tournament.  I will be curious how he does this year and how he does against guys like Griffith, O'Toole, and Kharchla who he has not wrestled yet.  He will have a couple decent guys in this later on.

Thanks - yuck it must be a computer/browser/pop-up thing for me.....    Oh well, thanks to all for posting the results.

Really a tough performance for a lot of the guys. The 2 best finishes were both by guys that got pinned twice.  Medora pinned twice, Christensen pinned twice, Empey 1-2, Burwick lost 3 times (3 big 10 wresflers, 2 good ones and Michigans backup),  Dow 2-2.

I was not there so I cannot comment on those performances, however I would say that (on paper) it seems like there were a number of positives to focus on.  I think nearly a dozen guys took the mat, many got their first collegiate win, a number of guys got numerous wins, and there was a ton of mat time. Additionally, days like this provide a lot of information for the coaches - strengths, weaknesses, areas of focus, etc.  Maybe it's the old JV coach in me, but I always felt that days like this were really important for the ongoing strength of the entire program.

Regarding Burwick's Michigan opponent, Drew Mattin is fairly good. Mattin was a National Qualifier at 141; Ragusin was a National Qualifier at 125 but was listed unattached at the tourney. Hard to know for sure what they are planning at 133. Steve Micic is now listed at 141.

Burwick did get ridden too much; has to work on that area.
