Tom, I do not believe that is correct. At 74 and 97 Dake and Cox get a bye to the semis which essentially shuts off a quarter of the bracket. I am not for sure how they do it but I believe that would push Evan down to a round of 16 match with Carr and Braxton to a round of 16 match with Walz.

Or maybe the bottom half of the bracket needs to beat Dake to make the finals?

Got it. Thanks for the heads up. Not aware of how it all works.

Interesting. I have never seen that info. I looked at the bracket types on track and they do not show anything like that for the trials so it will be interesting to see how it shakes out. That bracket from page 10 seems like a serious handicap for the side of the bracket that gets the World medalist depending on where they put them (looks to me like they could go on the top or the bottom).

Well if James Green won a world medal at 70 kg and wanted to move up, he would also get a bye to the semifinals so the bracket needed two byes to the semis to cover options.  (Or if Cox and Dake both wanted to challenge David Taylor)

I certainly understand that. As I mentioned that bracket type is not out there on track for the trials so if they are doing it that way track must not know about it yet.
