UWEC's Drexler wins WIAC title
UW-Eau Claire junior Jake Drexler won a WIAC wrestling championship at 149 pounds, highlighting a strong showing for the Blugolds on Sunday. Drexler is the Blugolds' first conference champion since 2006.

Eau Claire took second in the team standings at the conference championships, their best-ever finish as a squad. Evan Lawrence (174) and Mason Hawkins (285) both earned runner-up finishes, and six Blugolds took third place.

I watched the entire tournament online.  I've also watched all of their dual meets.  Drexler was a beast in the finals, pinning his opponent in the first period.  Every member of the team scored points, with a lot of promise evident among the underclassmen.  Eau Claire is definitely a program on the rise.

Eau Claire on the rise...That's called the Fader Effect!   He can build programs no matter where he is.

Fader has done wonders at EC. Proud of what they have accomplished.  From all accounts Drexler is a great young man.
