Good start for everyone, except Burwick.  A bit concerning to see him lose to a D3 kid last week and lose in the opening round this week. Hope it is because he is undersized at 133 still.

Barnett lost in the finals to Cannon from NW. He lost the takedown battle 3-0.  Cannon wasn't raised as highly as Barmett, but he did very good last week at the MSU Open beating some solid wrestlers.  Will be curious to see how Barnett responds this year
Burwick: rebounded from his early loss to take 3rd.  Winning the rest by tech or pin.  None of them appeared to be very good.
Otto: lost in finals to Runyan of Northern Iowa. Close until the end. Runyon was fairly highly ranked.
Christensen: walked through everyone with a quick pin. Not sure anyone he wrestled was very good though.
Escobar: won 2 before an injury default.
Termini: won it at 141, beating a guy from iowa state.
Stilling: took 3rd, though lost 19-4 in his loss.
Scharenbrock: took 1st in open at 157.  We appear to have decent depth at 157 (Model, Bahr, Scharenbrock). Will the best of them be good enough to be a qualifier?

Anyone else surprised Barnett and Christiansen wrestled in frosh/soph vs. the open brackets.    If we were truly thinking of pulling their redshirts, wouldn't you want to see them against better competition?

I think the coaching staff has a plan.  I expect Midlands will determine a bunch.

I am fine with not rushing it with them. Get them some confidence and extra time in a D1 room before competing against the best. Christensen looks like the more likely to get his redshirt pulled based on how 197 is going. Midlands will tell a lot with 125 and 197 along with the other battles like 157 and 174.

diddly

Unfortunately, Christiansen will face a murderers row if the redshirt is pulled:   #1 Moore, #3 Conel, #4 Warner, #5 Holschlag, #10 Schultz and #15 Brunner.  The only reason I'd consider pulling it is because UW presumably has 3 wrestlers for two weight classes over the next 4 years.
