Welcome to Madison and #Jump Seth! I pray that you have healed to 100%

Looks like a solid line-up for the season coming up.

The talent on the roster next year is as good or better than we have ever had.  If all healthy, no weak spots, several fringe AA type talent, and a few elite wrestlers.  In addition, a few talented wrestlers as backups (Bahr and Krattiger) and several redshirting. All in just year 2 of Bono.

The big question mark is all the significant injuries they had this year (Gross, Sebastian, Wick).  Hope they can all be at 100% big big 10 season next year.

Is Dow the front runner for 174?  It will be interesting to see how he does with Big Ten opponents.

mkm13

Dow has to be the front runner, unless Krattiger can get down to 174 and challenge him for the spot.  The redshirts from last year should give the team a quite a bit more depth than last year.  I will be curious to see how they do this year as they get opportunities to wrestle big 10 competition.

It will also be interesting who will come out on top at 157.  Ideally Zander would be back at 100% and be able to compete at his high potential.  If not, hopefully Bahr or Model can be competitive.

Krattiger was at 79kg / 174 for the US open.

Freestyle and folk are different but based on the US Open Dow went 5-2 losing to Keckeisen(11-10) and Plott(an OK State recruit) and took 5th while Krattiger went 2-2 losing to Demichael Franklin and Clay Lautt. I would give the edge to Dow.

I wasnt really thinking of the results. I was refering to a question above about can he make 174, and he already has just recently. Which would leave me to believe that is there plan.

The Badgers' lineup will have three former All-Americans in it next year. As far back as my database goes (early-to-mid 90s), that's only happened one other time: 2011, when the Badgers finished 10th:

--Tyler Graff, off a 5th-place finish, took 5th
--Andrew Howe, off a 1st-place finish, took 3rd
--Trevor Brandvold, off a 6th-place finish, took 5th

Go time. Missing out on the Top Ten this year is officially disappointing.

The following document was every Badger All-American by year.

We did have 5 in two different years, but I do think 3 was the most returning All-Americans (In 1980, Rein and Evans graduated; in 1984 Schmitz and Limmex graduated)

Thanks man!

I wasn't confident going further back than the early-to-mid 90s because even though I have all the Badger NCAA results going back further than that, if someone returned to the team but didn't make the NCAA tourney the following year, I wouldn't know it. Also, transfers can be tricky. Seth, for instance, wouldn't show up as a returning AA using that database because he wasn't an AA for the Badgers.

We can add Seth to the updated database now!!  ;D

I predict he'll AA as a Badger. You heard it here first.
If I agreed with you we'd both be wrong.

The 4 AA from 1979 were also AA in 1980, so we had 4 returning AA in 1980.

Wow. That's going back there a ways! Good grab. During the Coach Kleven days.

Good catch.  Here is the link at uwbadgers.com to the newest version of this record book:
