Big Ten Pre-Seeds RELEASED Monday, March 4

The thirteenth-ranked* Badgers compete at the 2019 Big Ten Championships on March 9-10 in Minneapolis. The Big Ten Championships is the qualifying tournament for the 2019 NCAA Championships in Pittsburgh on March 21-23.

The Big Ten will release its pre-seeds for the conference tournament on Monday, March 4.

The NCAA will release conference allocations for its qualifying tournament this afternoon.

No real surprises besides Reinhardt. He was higher than I thought he would be. I thought he would be 7/8. Very good draw for him as he could beat Venz was leading the match.

Lantz has a great draw against Lizak. If he wants to make NCAAs that is the match.

Why do they only seed 8 at some weights?

If there are 8 or less NCAA bid allotted to the weight, they only seed to 8. If there's 9+, they seed all 14. That they don't seed all 14 in every weight is ... is just so wrestling.

Not true! If there are 8 bids they seed the whole tournament, because of the extra qualifier. Whoever takes 9th at 133 will likely have a good shot at making NCAAs even though they only have 8 AQ spots.

The same holds true for 174 and 184 were there are 8 AQ bids.

If wisconsin can finish big 10's in 7th place or above, I'd be pretty content about where we are at and the direction we are (hopefully) heading.

UW will have six NCAA qualifiers with 41, 49, 65, 74, 84, and HWT. Of those six, three have legit AA chances with Moran, Wick, and Hilger. When you add the improvement to the Field House and attendance increase, it is definitely a step in the right direction.

Or, there really is no bar.  New coach, not all his recruits.  How about look good, fight hard, make WI proud, and we will judge in  4 years.

New coaching staff in place with their first recruiting class still finishing high school.  The bar for this year is not set at beating the best Wisconsin finish in the last seven years.  That being said, I think it is possible.
