I understand that is what the press release says, but this is what BD said in his weekly newsletter, Tuesday's with Barry (Wednesdays if he is busy):

"We finally return home for a dual against Indiana this Friday.  It is Youth/High School team night, so bring your teams out to watch the Badgers take on the Hoosiers.  This Fridays match up will have some exciting matches.  22nd ranked Eli Stickley (141) will be taking on 17th ranked Cole Weaver, 26th ranked Ryan Christensen (174) will face 17th ranked Devin Skatzke and Ethan Rotondo (125) will go up against 26th ranked Elijah Oliver."
Merely having an opinion doesn't necessarily make it a good one

I also think the Badgers win 7 matches, but I want to see 8 wins.

billymurphy

Well, it is a final 24-19.

Badgers take 6 wins.

IU had good wrestlers at 125 and 141 and 174.

Only matches I was disappointed was 141 and 197. Thought Eli could beat Weaver and got pinned. Also Ritter looked gas must have been a bad weight cut or something.

What weights did we win?

Budoomp doomp doomp doomp doomp doomp... I I I can't wait! :)
If I agreed with you we'd both be wrong.

We even have Ben saying it now  :D

If Davis can get a few more years heading the program I think he can find a way to beat the worst big ten team by 6 points. Just needs a little more time.

The Badgers won, but thats pretty embarrassing only winning by that amount to the bottom team in the Big Ten.  Any team points lost tonight?

BuckyMatt

Next year we lose Ricky R and Crone, who are giving us a lot of team points this year. If the redshirts don't duplicate or increase those point totals, we will indeed be the same, if not even worse, than this year.

You don't think any of this year's freshmen will fill in and this years guys will improve?

I don't see that line-up lighting the world on fire but they should be some good potential to have 8-9 make the NCAA and a shot at 1-2 AA but lets focus on this year before jumping to next.

Glad to see certain sections of the peanut gallery were (ahem!) "impressed". Certainly am not going to snigger at a win, not in this league, no matter who the Badgers wrestle against.

I tell you what Ben, if the day ever comes you're actually coaching a collegiate program instead of critiquing it, you're going to find it's a lot easier being the clown than running the circus. Keep that in mind when some fan posts on your team's web forum "next year."

I thought Barry should have been fired back in 2000 when it was very apparent that Iowa and Minnesota were vastly superior to the teams Barry was putting on the mat.
But, here we are, 18 years later and we did beat Indiana, but you have to admit it was not the kind of win that makes you think the Badgers are going to finish in the top half of the Big Ten Conference Tournament yet again.  I think 9th place is where this team finishes.  Next up is a very young Nebraska team and hopefully the team is ready to wrestle a little better.  The Wick boy certainly can wrestle, that much we can agree on.  And I also finally must agree with the, "wait until next year" comment that has become popular since I agree that it is true.  This team a year from now will not be significantly better or worse and we will once again be fighting for 8 or 9th place in the conference.   We have an expanded database of results to look at and come back next year and you will find that Ben's comment rings true, like it or not.
