I have no idea what has spawned the popularity of pre-cooked shrimp. They taste like nothing when they're good, bleach when they're bad. Shrimp are about the easiest food to prep (steam or saute in better).

I'll take cold smoked salmon any day. :)

Either way, this Christmas I'm making Hayward shrimp (steamed bluegill fillets) and serving with cocktail sauce. The fillets curl up and look like shmps.

They are any to prepare but many folks over cook and turn a delectable treat into rubber like substance!!

Sauté in butter is the best especially if you make that garlic butter. Did this in cast iron of course..

Good cocktail sauce I actually like the Jalepeno ketchup with a nice healthy dose of Lakeside Horse Radish.
