BO NICKAL TO RECEIVE AMATEUR WRESTLING NEWS' HAMMER AWARD

Amateur Wrestling News will present The Hammer, its annual award, to Bo Nickal at the Penn State Wrestling Banquet on Sunday, April 9.
The award is presented to the wrestler who wins the national title at what the writers at AWN feel is the most competitive weightclass every season.
Nickal won the 184 pound title this year in St. Louis, defeating two-time NCAA champion Gabe Dean in the finals. There were two NCAA champs at the weight (Dean and Myles Martin) and a total of eight returning All Americans. Nickal finished the season 26-1, with that lone loss being to Martin in the Big Ten semis.
Past recipients of The Hammer include Oklahoma State's Alex Dieringer and Logan Stieber from Ohio State.
An award is only as prestigious as the quality of those who have previously won it.
