Who decides who we wanna play in non conference?  Is it the head coach, athletic director?

Michigan is a tough game, though at home.

If they win out and win the big ten championship there's no way that they miss the playoffs.

Ask Penn State how important winning the Big Ten title game is.  Granted they had one loss, but still the committee showed this year they will put in who they want to.

Most likely the A.D. sets the non-conference schedule, as those contracts are established years in advance.  The coaches have enough to do, anyway.
