Portage Kick Off Classic for December 17 Cancelled

It is unfortunate these things happen; nevertheless, due to the excessive weather the Portage Youth Wrestling Board decided to reschedule the Portage Kick Off Classic for Saturday December 17. We apologize for the inconvenience to the almost 300 participants that may have occured but it was decided the safety of the participants, volunteers and School District employees was the most important consideration.

At the guidance of Trackwrestling all registrations from December 11 will be transferred to the December 17th event. We realize the new day may not work for everyone, as such, we will gladly provide a full refund through track to anyone requesting one.  Trackwreslting asked we create a list of all those registrations requesting a refund and submit it on Friday afternoon after the close of registration.  AS such we have already begun this process.  

If you were registered for Sunday, December 11 and can not attend on December 17, we understand and we would like to thank you for thinking of us.  Send us an email requesting a refund to portageyouthwreslting@gmail.com and let us know the wrestlers name and your request for the refund and we will gladly arrange for it.

However, if you are still interested in attending the Portage KickOff Classic on Saturday, December 17 and were already registered all you need to do is show up.

6th Annual Portage Kick Off Classic

• State Bracketing
• 2002-2003,2004-2005, 2006-2007, 2008-2009, 2010-2011 (No High School Aged wrestlers)
• 3 periods - 60 seconds in length
• 3 person MAX mat side with each competitor
• Customized pins for a pin
• Plaque 1st place
• Medals 2nd - 5th (2006-2011), 2nd - 3rd (2002-2005)
• Team trophies 1st - 3rd place
• Will try to make a 6 man bracket before 4 man

• Bracket Separation Criteria: State Placer, State Qualifier, Usually takes 1st/2nd, Usually takes 2nd/3rd, Usually takes 3rd/4th, Beginner (first year wrestler) We close registration on Friday or at capacity to take the time to assure we get comparable talent in the brackets together.

Entry fee: $17 per wrestler

ANY TEAM WITH 8 wrestlers will receive a free team entry.

Registration will close no later than Friday Dec. 16th @ 3pm

Brackets post Saturday @ 8:00 am on www.trackwrestling.com. This tournament is pre-bracketed.

Check in 6:45-8:15 a.m. skin/nail checks. Honor weight system with random weight checks

Wrestling starts at 9:00 am or sooner (Last year we started at 8:50)

Wrestling straight through day with NO BREAK .  Come and get 4 high quality matches in Portage and you will be on time for check in at the Wisconsin Dells!!!!!

USA card required & will be available for

$40 on day of tournament (birth certificate)


Spectator Fee: $2.00/12 and under free

Concessions/Raffle available ALL day

Unfortunately, due to the severe weather forecast,  The Portage Kick Off Classic has been cancelled for December 17.

While this is extremely unfortunate; the safety of our volunteers, school personal and wrestling families attending our event must be our first consideration. 

As this is our second attempt to hold our tournament and there will be no replacement day schedule; however, we will be back in the 2017/2018 season .

We truly appreciate all the emails of support we have received since the cancelation email went out last night.
