Rat

The Badgers have 3 ranked wrestlers out of ten weight classes and we the fans are supposed to be happy.By the way that is 3rd 15th and 19th that should be good enough for about 50th place in the nation. LETS KEEP THE COACH ::)

Do you really think a healthy RT is the 15th best 33 in the nation? Is it the coaches fault he has been hurt. He teched the current #2 last year. Also the coaches fault that a returning AA and a returning qualifier took an Olympic red shirt? I do not believe there are any other returning AA's taking a ORS. The only other 2 ORS I am aware of are Anthony Valencia (AZ St) and Beasley of ODU (2015 qualifier).

I hope I don't make anyone mad with this statement but.....  Notice that Missouri has 8 guys ranked, most pretty high and the other two could qualify.  Not a huge deal but at least three of them were not real big recruits coming in.  That program is finding kids and making them AA good.  That is what I am hoping for.

Coach Smith really has things wound up down there. I thought it would hurt them to leave the Big 12 but they have not missed a beat. I sure like the way they wrestle too. Lots of offense.

Agreed. I get kinda jealous of other programs like Missouri. Watching recruits ( highly touted or not ) develope and exceed potential is a lot of fun to watch as a fan. Crone seems to be delevoing nicely. I've watched that kid wrestle since he was in middle school. One of the most determined wrestlers I've ever had the pleasure to witness develope . The kids always been fearless like Badger. Being the underdog is nothing new to Crone. That kid is a fighter, to whoop him, you better eat your wheaties. Crone IMO, is one of those rare kids who flat out just loves to wrestle. We also have the Wick twins committed. After watching those two, they seem to be cut from the same cloth as Crone. Hard nosed and determined.

AC is a great kid. Coached him at Nationals one year in 8th grade. He was there without a coach or anybody with a USA Coaching card and I knew him him a little because he had wrestled my boy earlier in the year. He was a good wrestler and a super nice kid but had not developed to the point of AA or highly ranked yet. He went 2-2 so I obviously was not much help. He did not place at youth state either that year. What I love about him is he truly got better every single year and this is why I am so high on him and I think he can AA for the Badgers once or twice before he is done.

Freshman year of HS he was 27-17 and lost in the first round of sectionals. Sophomore year he shocked everyone and beat Ben Thorton to be state champ. Next year he moved up to 120 and did not place at state. Eliminated by Gabe Grahek on the back side. Senior year won state again at 132 and had a 42-2 record. Only losses were to Georger Fisher who is at Michigan and Larry Early who is at Minnesota. I think there is no limit to his ceiling in the sport of wrestling.
