It's just a shame that they don't have baseball anymore.  When was the last year they had it here, early 80's?

bigG

1991. A friend of mine was on that team. '88 was their last winning season.

If we can afford a fencing team, I hope we can swing America's pastime.
If I agreed with you we'd both be wrong.

Won't happen, unless they make it co-ed.   ;)   Do they still have the rowing club?

I thought they dropped fencing, gymnastics and baseball all at the same time.
Do they still have fencing?

I think UW has ultimate frisbee as a sport. :)

I was hoping to be on their first men's synchronized swim team; but it never materialized. Another shattered dream to toss atop the heap of 'em.

No.  Seriously doubt baseball will return to the UW in the near future.

Reminder, it is more seriously considered to add scholarship athletes as employees first.  Will be well over $1 million a year for that and instead, we will see non-contributing revenue sports cut at the UW.  And, that will mean men's sports first thanks to another law, Title IX.

it's been on the shelf for yrs, but there is a lot more talk about it again now, 2 of my very good friends Eric Liebenstein from Janesville and a classmate of mine from Milton were both starters on the last team Wis had, it was a sad day for them, i do now that...i hope Barry will get it going as i do now that people are talking to him about it...

So, proposed budget cuts could negatively impact non-revenue sports....    :P

Sure, roughly equivalent to spending beyond means.

I hope that's not how the "powers that be" regard the cost of the wrestling team.  Would really suck to lose it.   :'(
