Full disclosure: I had to look it up myself, but I knew you would see the humor in it...
It was none other than Ferdinand Hammer.
George Martin was a good guess though... Coach Martin placed third in the NCAA Tournament in 1932, and was NCAA champion at 165 pounds in 1933
