That 45 is more like " break the 90 degree mark " for most officials. I love the wedge idea at ref training meetings.

Spartan,
You know a coach is going to cut a piece of foam into an 85 degree wedge with 45 degrees marked on the side of it for the next time you ref, right?

I did see tonight where a kid was stacked up and would go top of shoulder to top of shoulder to not get pinned.  Kid was held there for about seven seconds and bellied down.  And I mean the kid was almost in an L shape with his legs in the air and his chin in his chest. The ref gave no back points.
The coach asked for near fall but the ref gave the universal flip flop signal.  I don't think the kids shoulder was ever more than three inches off the mat. Unusual angle but, I would think near fall points should have been awarded there. ? match ended in a tech fall.
Be Unbeatable. Someone may score more points than you, but hold your head high, know you gave your all and go back to work.  That is being unbeatable.
