Thanks for the list BFBoy.  Are there any notable incoming Freshmen?

Obviously, Johnson Creek, Markesan and Deerfield are at a different level from the rest. I'd have to pick them to finish in that order.

Oakfield also had Ryan Easterson returning.  He missed the end of the season last year injured, but would have been a likely placer.

I think the big freshmen coming in will be Cal Hansen of Deerfield.  Could place at state in the 106-120 range.  Not sure what else is coming up. I didn't see many kids qualify for youth state on Trackwrestling from our conference, but you never know with the number of kids who are registered under a club name.  I wouldn't be surprised if Markesan, Princeton, or Johnson Creek have some solid kids coming in as freshmen.  It seems their youth clubs are pretty solid and can develop high school ready wrestlers as of late.

RollTide

Good call on Cal Hansen BF Boy.  1st and 2nd in 7th & 8th grade folkstyle state.  It looks like he will eventually be the 113 and Gilbertson the 120.  With these programs like Advance and World Class, many kids are ready to compete for medals as freshmen.

RollTide

As we are within a month of the conference tourney, I thought I'd start a list of contenders by weight.  Please add guys that I missed.

Not in any order:

106 Wilfong, Khornes, Croft
113 Becker, Hansen, Hunter, Gross
120 Ellison, Gilbertson
126 Avalos, Gonzales
132 Hall, Easterson, Hunter
138 Wichmann, Hebbe, Hansen, Storm
145 Holland, Beecher, Dembowski
152 LeClair, Dowling, Figol, Brooks
160 Schmauz
170 Kemmerling
182 VanderGriten, Kuphal
195 Fehring, Suefzer, Hood
220 Uselmann, Straks, James
285 Stensrud, Knipfer, Hanni

113 and 138 are loaded. (Assuming the Becker and Wichmann drop to those weight classes.)

Last year I believe Hebbe bumped up a class for conference and took 1st.  I could see something like that happening again this year.

If my math is correct, there are 9 returning conference champs.

I think Johnson Creek has to be the favorite, but Deerfield has narrowed the gap.  The lost by 2 points in a dual.

I think we need to add a where are they now thread?  Does anyone know what happened to any of the following wrestlers who we haven't seen in a while?

JC: Hood
Deer: Roberts, Delaney, Wilfong
Lourdes: Fehring
Horicon: Hanni
Oakfield: Easterson

There are definitely going to be some interesting weight classes if the above kids come back.  We are now entering the fun time of the season.  Watch out for Canales (Rio) at 182 this year.  He looked pretty dominant in his pin over Vander Griten from Deerfield.

Spencer Hanni quit the team for Horicon.

They did lose by two, without gilbertson in the line up due to an injury.with him at conference it should make for a more intresting tourny.

RollTide

Easterson has been out with an injury, hopefully back soon.

That is very interesting.  I see Gilbertson was back in the lineup the other night, but Hansen was out.  Are those two beating on each other in practice?  I watched Hansen wrestle at the On the Water and he was as good as advertised.

I see Fehring was back in the lineup with a pin over Straks at the multi-dual
