Please:
Let's step back from the keyboard before hitting "Submit" after writing out your post(s).
There is absolutely no place in the forum intended to be used to be hurtful towards kids or anyone else and is not the purpose of this forum.
So, please think before hitting "Submit".
How about we try using this criteria...before hitting "submit":
1) May this hurt some young person or damage someones reputation? (if it will hurt someone don't hit "submit")
2) Am I doing this to be mean? (if you are doing it to be mean don't hit "submit")
3) Do I have real facts or hearsay? (if it's hearsay, don't "submit")
4) Am I doing anyone any good by posting this? (if you are not doing anyone any good don't hit "submit")
5) Opinion has a place, but not always.  (if your opinion is negative or hurtful, don't hit "submit")
Let's give kids a chance.
Thanks,
Tom

How would I have been "reviewed"/"criticized" if there was internet when I was in high school?

-He can't move his feet.
-doesn't know what he is doing.
-why is he wearing basketball shoes to wrestle in? (well, my first couple matches anyhow)
(there probably would have been worse things, but I don't want to type them out)

It would not have been pretty...I wonder what I would have thought when I read all that stuff as a high school kid who was trying to do his best.... I am glad there was no internet when I wrestled in high school.

I gotta say, Street Glide was citing sources of information in that deleted post that helped shape his opinion. Those same sources essentially led me to similar conclusions, and I have virtually no inside information - heck I live in a completely different state. I think a lot of us pull in bits and pieces from various sources and come to conclusions that form our opinions - for better or worse. That said, I think most on the forum have admitted that there is more going on behind the scenes inside the Badger wrestling program - issues that probably are best not aired in public. The ensuing speculation that occurs puts people on opposing sides of a fence - or in the opinion of some, speculation that shouldn't be aired. But that too is a matter of opinion - it offends some but not others. I think Street Glide is just putting reasonably formed speculation out there - like it or not.

As for the piling on that some are receiving (like aarons), play nice guys. aarons and I have crossed swords multiple times and I dare say, are sworn natural enemies. But I much prefer his presence on the forum as opposed to his absence. More often than not I disagree with his opinions, but that is actually part of the reason I reside on the forum - I want to hear and debate the opinions of others. The contrary opinions of others is a good thing - not a bad thing. I cringe when some posters tell others to "go home" because I fear that he will actually leave; having that push-back is a good thing and one of the reasons why many of us actually visit the forum.

Agreed.

And - not to agree with aarons23 ... or disagree with Street Glide - but ... some topics atre mostly opinion ... some mostly facts ... some a mix of both - but ...

I do think that (especially within extended content discussions) it doesn't hurt to clarify fact from opinion.  There were plenty of times I was reading what I assumed had to be inside info that turned out to be totally wrong ... and some things that seemed to be right enough to buy into that person's arguement enough to assume it was fact ... (and we all know what assume-ing makes).

Everybody has a right to their opinioin - but ... if it's worth posting ... make it worth our "listening" to by making as intelligent as possible an argument for your position ... by making sure both fact & opinion are clearly defineable by the reader.

In verbal conversation - if a listener has a question about what they're hearing ... they can ask a question to clarify it.  In forum discussions ... that's (obviously) not possible.  Please consider what & how you present - since readers have no way of knowing what you are thinking ... other than what's in black & white.

So - if you care what others will consider of your posts - present them in a way that presents you as reliable in separating fact from opinion.
If you don't care what others will consider of your posts ... I'm not sure why you would bother to post.

Try not to win all your arguments - but, rather, to make them well enough for people to consider.

Otherwise (as has happened quite a bit here in the last week) this forum becomes nothing more than gossip - which benefits nobody ... can be  hurtful to the subject(s) ... and is unworthy of our time.
