Number of NCAA qualifiers ranked by the ratio of qualifiers to HS Participants. For Informational purposes, how many of said qualifiers stayed in state, Number and %.

A lot of talk about putting a wall up in WI, not sure the data justifies that. Our surrounding states are doing a far better job of developing the talent in the state, look at IL, MN, IA, MI.

Is the WWF developing the talent beyond the HS and Clubs? I seen a post about crediting IL Federation coaches for their success. WI is 21st out of 38 states that sent a wrestler to the NCAA's.

As far as keeping in State talent, OK takes the cake, 10/12 qualifiers stayed in state. IA 7/12, MN only 3/12, WI 2/5.

What reference material are you using?

A list of NCAA qualifiers, HS participation data I believe from NWCA.

bigoil,

Thanks for sharing that is great information.

Oklahoma #'s are very impressive. Might be a little skewed. It seems like they have been able to get a few commits to transfer to Stillwater for their senior year. Not sure if any of the 10 were impacted by that. Brayden Thompson is currently at Stillwater and I think the younger Ferraris were at Stillwater for a year. Obviously those 3 are not in the #'s but if they have been doing that for a while that could impact the #'s sum. Same could be said for Wyoming, Blair and the other academies. Not sure if they count the home state or the state where the wrestler completed HS. Lachlan McNeil (141 UNC) competed for Wyoming Seminary but he is from Canada and who knows if that counts toward PA or not.

also, this was before the at large bids were announced.

Florida and Georgia have 10,000 kids wrestling?  That surprised me.

Florida has been around for a while, we competed down there and most Hs's have decent sized rosters.

Our team also heads to NC and teams from all over the south are there and as Deion would say "we are coming". No D1 opportunities south of TN/NC but the athletes are getting better.

Crazy that CA has over 27K wrestlers and a single class system. 14 champs. .0518% chance of wining. In contrast WI is .5294%

True but they put in about the same ratio (a little lower in fact) of wrestlers as us.

Does that mean it's good then that we got State Champ Estrada, State Champ Condon, and State runner up Root from California?
