Entire U.S. mens freestyle team receives its draws for Senior World Championships in Oslo, Norway
The draw was held for all 10 weight classes in men's freestyle, which will be hosted in Oslo, Norway this week.

The United States, which has six past Olympic medalists on its men's freestyle roster in Oslo, is expected to be in the race for the team title.

The draw was held at approximately 4:00 p.m. local time, but an error was discovered in the list of entries, requiring a redraw of the brackets. Seven U.S. wrestlers received a different first-round opponent after the redraw, with only James Green (70 kg) Jordan Burroughs (79 kg) and Nick Gwiazdowski (125 kg) getting the same athlete they were originally scheduled to face in the first draw.

2012 Olympic champion and four-time World champion Jordan Burroughs received his draw for 79 kg, a new weight class for him. Burroughs will face 2021 Pan American Championships bronze medalist Samuel Barmish of Canada in his opening bout. Burroughs in unseeded and in the top half-bracket. His quarterbracket includes No. 4 seed Alans Amirovs of Latvia and also 2019 U23 World bronze meddalist Radik Valiev of the Russian Wrestling Federation.

2016 Olympic champion and 2020 Olympic silver medalist Kyle Snyder, who wrestles at 97 kg, received the No. 2 seed. He will open with a bye, then face the winner of the match between Nishan Randhawa of Canada and Batzul Uluziisaikhan of Mongolia. His arch-rival, two-time Olympic champion Abdulrashid Sadulaev of Russia, is the No. 1 seed and on the opposite side of the bracket.

2020 Olympic champion and 2018 World champion David Taylor, in the 86 kg weight class, was also the No. 1 seed. He drew 2017 World silver medalist Boris Makoev of Slovakia in his opening bout. His 2020 Olympic Games finals opponent, 2016 Olympic champion Hassan Yazdani Charati of Iran, is the No. 2 seed and on the opposite side from Taylor.

2016 Olympic bronze medalist and two-time World champion J'den Cox received his draw for 92 kg, where he is unseeded. He will open against Orgilokh Dagvadorj of Mongolia, who was 10th in the Asian Championships twice. He is in the bottom half bracket and could face No. 3 seed Jeremy Piorier of Canada in the quarterfinals and No. 2 seed Kamran Ghasempour of Iran in the semifinals.

2020 Olympic champion and two-time World champion Kyle Dake is the No. 1 seed at 74 kg. He opens with a bye, then faces the winner of two-time Junior World medalist Vasile Diacon of Moldova and Aimar Andruse of Estonia. His half-bracket includes No. 4 seed Mitchell Finesilver of Israel, who competed for Duke, and another U.S. collegian in Nestor Taffur of Colombia, who wrestled for Boston University.

2020 Olympic bronze medalist and 2017 World silver medalist Thomas Gilman, who received the No. 1 seed, will face Abubakr Mutaliev of the Russian Wrestling Federation, who was third in the 2021 Russian Nationals. His half-bracket also includes No. 4 seed Roberto Alejandro Blanco of Mexico.

At 70 kg, two-time World medalist James Green opens against Seungchul Lee of Korea, who was fifth in the 2018 World Championships. Green is unseeded and in the bottom quarterbracket, which also includes No. 2 seed and 2021 European silver medalist Turan Bayramov of Azerbaijan and also Adam Batirov of Bahrain, a 2018 World silver medalist.

A two-time World medalist at 125 kg, Nick Gwiazdowski opens against 2014 Junior World champion Amar Dhesi of Canada, who competed at Oregon State and now trains at the Ohio RTC. Gwiazdowski in unseeded, and is in the same quarterbracket at No. 3 seed Amir Hossein Zare of Iran.

Competing in his second Senior World championships is Daton Fix, who is at 61 kg for this event after wrestling 57 kg at the 2019 World Championships. Fix opens up against Giorgi Vangelov of Bulgaria, who was fifth in the 2020 Olympics.

Yianni Diakomihalis will be competing in his first Senior Worlds at 65 kg, opens against Colin Realbuto of Italy, who has few international achievements. Diakomihalis is in the bottom quarterbracket, which also includes No. 2 seed Tulga Tumur Ochir of Mongolia.

Men's freestyle Group One, which competes on Saturday and Sunday, includes Fix, Dake, Taylor and Gwiazdowski.

Group Two, which wrestles Sunday and Monday, includes Gilman, Diakomihalis, Burroughs and Cox

Group Three, which competes Monday and Tuesday, includes Green and Snyder.
