Best month of the year!  Lets kick it off with some predictions about conference.  10 individual champs from last year's tournament graduated - leaving the door open for lots of new faces.  The 4 returning champs are:

Josh Depies RL
Levi Kohn RL
Jon Mudlaff RL
Garett Hackl Oo

hasbeen

I see all 4 of the returning champs repeating. There might be some moving around for a few of the kids who have been at multiple weights this year and maybe even some who plan on dropping for the first time this weekend, but my best guesses would be as follows:

106 Depies RL? or A. Brockman CG
113 Depies RL? or Loomans Oo
120 Gonwa CG
126 I. Brockman CG
132 Trent Rebedew EL/HG
138 Mudlaff RL
145 I'd take Bonebrake EL/HG? over Kohn RL if he's not at 138
152 Same thing here I'd take Trevor Rebedew EL/HG? if he's not at 145. Otherwise ?
160 Vandenbush RL
170 Ebeling Oo
182 Miller EL/HG
195 Huiras RL
220 Hackl Oo
285 Gjertsen CG? or Rogers Oo

hasbeen

What no other predictions? Who else will win it at 152 if Rebedew EL goes 145? At 195 does Huiras RL top Schuette OZ again or will Sam get some revenge? How about 285, Hiller RL hasn't lost in conference, does he have a shot there? Where else is there someone I'm missing?

So who qualifies for sectionals for individuals on Saturday?  Any predictions?

I had a little time at work this morning so I took a look at the 3 Regionals our conference is involved with tomorrow. Here's how I see it:

DIV II Sheboygan Falls

Oostburg should win it easily. They should qualify 7-9 for Sectionals. No such thing as a lock this time of year but I see Loomans 113, Burmesch 132, Yeadon 160, Ebeling 170, Bonnett 182, Meyer 195, Hackl 220 moving on. Frier 145 will battle with Davies CG for the #2 spot it looks like and Rogers 285 has a couple solid bigs to deal with for his 2nd place.

Cedar Grove-Belgium might get 4-5 through. Best chances for A. Brockman 106, I. Brockman 126, and Gjertsen 285(if he can finally get on the mat). Tough match but definite possibility for Gonwa 120 against Sheb Falls & Davies 145 will fight Frier for 2nd. Morgan 132/138 has an outside chance as well.

160 and 182 look wide open for 2nd place. Anything can happen there.

DIV II Valders

Elkhart Lake / Howards Grove depending on health could have 5-6 qualifiers. Ward 120, Perko 126, Bonebrake 138, Rebedew 145, and Miller 182 have the best chance. Looks like Rebedew 132 has a tough road - 4 solid kids there.

113, 145, 170, 220, & 285 look wide open for 2nd place. 220 & 285 don't even seem to have a solid #1.

DIV III Random Lake

Should be another Regional plaque for Random Lake but Reedsville will give them a run. Both teams should have about 7-9 qualifiers but the Rams look to have a bit more depth(if they can fill the line-up). Depies 106, Lewis 126, Mudlaff 132, Kohn 145, Vandenbush 160, Houpt 182, and Hiller 285 look to have the clearest routes to Sectionals. Huiras 195 will have repeat battles with Schuette Oz and Severin from Kewaunee. Brouilette 170 will probably be up against the Mishicot kid for 2nd place.

Ozaukee will have Schuette battling for a spot at 195 and not sure about injury status of Watry, but he would most likely make it at 113 and I think if Burmesch moved up to 120 there would be a spot for him too. Wagner 126 will have a solid Reedville kid to overcome for him to move on. I'd also give Zichitella 152 an outside chance.

120, 160, & 220 look to have openings for an underdog to grab a 2nd place.
