Mitch Mesenbrink (Hartland)
Nicolar Rivera (Stoughton)

It may not be him, maybe not yet hopefully. But here is his bio.

Ncaa qualifier as RS FR

One of the most sought out recruits in the country, coming in as the No. 11 overall recruit... member of the 2016 and 2017 Junior National Freestyle Team... two-time Pan American champion... two-time Fargo freestyle national champion... two-time Fargo Greco national champion... three-time Illinois state champion... member of the 2011 Cadet World Team... compiled a 195-7 prep record... wrestled for Glenbard North High School

If there is a scholarship available what is the huge risk? Id say the risk is much bigger for Gomez, if he has had concussion issues.

Sick! Exciting dude. Will bring all kinds of craziness to Madison. Love it if it's true.

Cadet Greco world teamer and Freestyle runner-up Brock Bobzien (Poway, CA)

Appears to be a great pick up!

Not who we thought, but still a very big recruit. Brock Bobzien who is a cadet world team member for Greco and runner up in freestyle. He is a junior from California at 132. He is currently #14 at 132, but looks like an up and coming guy. He went from 7th in California states last year to world teamed and runner up.

Could have easily won the freestyle team in freestyle as well. Was up 8-4 late in the match and got stuck. He then won match 2, but lost the third.

Must be a young JR to wrestle cadet.

Appears to be a great pick up!

His best of 3 finals for freestyle were some of the best matches at Cadet Nationals.  I think this is a great addition and am very excited.

Not sure a 2 time AZ state champ is considered a "big score"...

That is good news! He is solid in that slot and can hopefully hold together for one more season before moving on with his life.

I really am excited of the prospects for this team next year.  They are putting the pieces together to have a very competitive season up and down the line up.  Couple that with the continued development of the wrestlers already in the room and next year is going to be a lot of fun.

Makes all the negative posters from end of season look even worse than they already did. From the world is ending and we should find a new coach to this could be the best season in UW history potentially all with one transfer(McNally). Looking forward to how the guys do this weekend and see those same negative posters post about how good the UW guys do.

Apparently Dad2_5  wants a recruit who isn't even ranked by anyone and an NAIA transfer over a cadet world teamer, runner up in freestyle, and ranked recruit  and a bloodround 174 at a position of need. Let's trust his thought process.

I am very happy with the Bobzien news.  What did you think of his Cadet world team trials?  I really think he is an exciting wrestler with a lot of upside potential.

Two things stood out to me (1) is he look technically solid, maybe more comfortable and sound then his forkstyle (2) Look about at 2020 and battle for the belt and pins all the way through, dominate.  Should be fun to see how he develops in the coming years.

You guys are showing what I have seen on this team for the many years I have followed them, insecurity, tentative, reactionary! You should have read those two post this way (1) Can Badger beat those recruits (yes!) (2) Are the Badgers out recruiting Iowa and gaining any ground (on those two - yes!) (overall maybe not so much but the Badger '21 class is high level!) (3) Are those two just brought in to be beat down mat rats for the starters at Iowa (most likely)? Instead you seem more insecure and reactionary.  There needs to be mindset change and it appears that is starting to happen on the team, not so much on the forum.

@dad 2 5 - keep on posting.  I love it.

Realize if you go post accolades about the Badger wrestling program on the Iowa or Penn State forums you would get torched even worse.  Every wrestling forum has a pretty rabid fan base who will protect their own.  They are all SUPER insecure and reactionary and that's why so many people enjoy reading them.  Go read the banter back and forth about shady recruiting, slush funds, getting PA wrestlers to Iowa, etc...  I have read threads in the last week accusing both Cael and Gable of stuff.  Throw in the success of Penn State at individual NCAA's this year versus Iowa with the team title and you have some serious drama.  Now we have the Max Dean speculation and it is a total circus.

Oh no, Dad 2 5 called me insecure  ::)

More like I just know how to draw in the lines. It's a Wisconsin Badger forum , not a forum about Iowa.  Happily post that stuff on the General College Wrestling board!  It's really not too hard to understand the concept

Insecure about what? Tentative? Reactionary? I have been consistent that Bono and crew have been making steady progress and improvements to the program since they got here. Others like you were the ones who were negative and then pumped about getting 2 AAs this year. That's the definition of reactionary. Couple wins? How about a couple AAs.
"I don't see this going particularly well for the Badgers. Hopefully they can get a couple back side wins but it does not look good. But just wait until next year!"

The better option was you should post those where they belong. This is a topic on Badger recruits. Want to talk about Iowa recruits post on the college board or go to Hawkeye report.

As far as mindset change goes. What about my mindset and action should I change? I donate to WRTC, Badger season ticket holder, watch and promote, believe in the coaches and athletes and see the steady but quick improvement from just a few short years ago. Maybe look in the mirror.

Well said 63!

Here are 2 Juniors who are nationally ranked in-state wrestlers I would love to see commit to Wisconsin:

Mitch Mesenbrink (Hartland)
Nicolar Rivera (Stoughton)

In my opinion Mesenbrink will go else where.
Rivera doesn't have the grades.  So I've heard.

;D

great to add him to what we already have in the class.  really talented and very unique style. Any thoughts on how his style will translate to big 10 folkstyle wrestling?

Ranked #6 in the nation by Matscouts, he beat #1 Nate Jesuroga in January and Iowa's starter Drake Ayala 11-0 at Cadet Nationals (Fargo) in 2018

I was thinking about this string yesterday when I saw the tweet last night. I had kind of thought there was no chance but it is fantastic that either Willie's information was wrong or the young man was able to turn things around. Either way fantastic news! Lots of greats wrestlers and coaches in his size range in the room. Really excited to see what he is able to do at the college level with his creativity and natural ability. His results have not always been consistent but his celling is off the charts.

That is correct. As far as national level results his results have not always been consistent. He beat the # 1 ranked wrestler in the country at 126 Nathanel Jesuroga of Southeast Polk at Cheesehead but Nicolar is only ranked 10th because of some other losses. Jesuroga is 12th PFP and Nicolar is not in the top 20. This is not a slam at all on Nicolar more of a representation of how much potential he has. I am extremely excited that is he coming to the UW and looking forward to his growth. Below are a few examples. You see high placements, championships and DNP's. The first 2 listed are Fargo from last summer where he did not place in either Greco or Freestyle. He is was 4-2 in both and did not place. He is a previous Fargo champ so to be a champ and then to DNP is somewhat inconsistent.
