Post by: bigG on March 01, 2017, 10:54:37 AM
I can't bring myself to calling this thing a drinking fountain. Bubbler for life, baby!

Germans I know call it a drinking station.

I'm glad I found the bubbler at the Kohl Center this weekend. Bought a bottle Thursday night, and probably refilled it 8 times thru Saturday.

Bubbler by far!  Facial Tissue is Kleenex as well regardless of brand.  Any other products like this?

Here's two interesting reads on the topic...

It is a water fountain. No one outside of WI calls the thing a bubbler. I wish Wisconsin folks would get it.

We wish everyone else would get it. I've only heard bubbler on the east side of the state. But I looked it up and found the following from a valid and reliabele source

"drinking fountain, water fountain or bubbler?

Bubbler is correct- Miriam Webster (himself)"

Dare ya go!

Forgot about this one.  Having lived all over I have accepted ATM or cash machine as the nomenclature.  When they first came out my cousin thought they were gambling machines.  One day my uncle pulled money out and my cousin said in amazement "He won again!  This is amazing!"

Say that in coulee country and they look for a Delorean. One of the first lessons i learned when I moved here. ATM does not equal Tyme machine to these freaks.

Bubbler- http://csumc.wisc.edu/wep/map.htm (http://csumc.wisc.edu/wep/map.htm)

We have many artisan wells up this way. Folks will go to them and get 5 gallons of water at a time.

Go to UW Parkside (coach Koch's pride) and you can drink it daily. Their bubblers in Petrifying Springs are artesian; or were. High iron. Eat your veggies. :)

Water has always been a bubbler. Money comes from the Tyme machine and you go to a soda fountain. Which would be the next question. Is it soda or pop?

Sundrop with the floatin' stuff in a real bottle! The best!

There was a pub just outside of town on route to Tilleda Falls we stopped at for Sundrop with chunks of real fruit in the nice thick glass bottle. Heaven. I don't often fall for pop; but that's special.

Can't believe I call it "pop" now. Good soda.

Sun Drop is more popular here than Dew.
Sadly, I used to drink TAB. I love saccharin.

Yah or yeah. First thing I noticed when I move driftless; "Yah....Yaaaaaah!." M'waukee it's "yeah" and "eh" to start or any any sentence.

Bubbler it is!

My Sargeant last weekend was showing me around a new section of the jail where he said "why they put this bubbler here, I have no idea."

He's from West Salem. I said "bubbler?" He goes "you don't know what that is?" I said "of course, I do, you're the first person from this foreign area to use the term in my memory."

He's said "well, the correct term is bubbler." I agreed.
