Should be a good match. Crazy they matched up in the first round. It's a real shame one of them has to go home after that match, which is a prime example of why it needs to be double elimination.

its easy for two sectionals be loaded, and then a top ranked 2nd place winner has to wrestle another highly ranked 3rd placer, which is why the system will be changed someday.

As long as that Coleman kid figures out a way to wrestle him. Because I think it would be kind of hard to wrestle a kid like that because they don't have as much to grab obviously. And Anglin is all over the place the entire time. Should be a great match! Looking forward to it.

So...because the #1 "ranked" guy took took 2nd at sectionals and the #2 ranked guy took 3rd at sectionals, we should seed state to make sure they don't wrestle each other in the prelims? Ultimately making it an easier path for them? How about they win their sectional and guarantee they don't meet until the semis. The way it looks they are at best only the 4th and 5th best in the bracket....

Yes I'm picking 12 guys from the Mineral Point Sectional to win it. And at least 16 to be in the finals. All of these possible matches should be close.

I'm not a Fennimore or Stratford fan either I just know how tough of a sectional it is. Good luck to all wrestlers at state in 2016.

I do not think its a matter of fair vs not fair. It just is what it is. Seeding actually crosses the line of subjectivity vs objectivity.

If both of these kids would have won their sectional this wouldnt of happen. Its just the way it goes, and that is why it is important to come ready to wrestle this time of the year anything can happen. The things is life isnt always fair, and that is what makes our sport so special. We learn alot about who we are as individuals and competitors when we are placed in situations that are not fair. We either learn from it and dont let it happen again or we try to position ourselves better so we dont have to worry about getting placed in a tough match the opening round of state. Learn from it... Why blame the system for this, it is shaping these young men and women to become who they are later on in life, and everyone wants to see things changed and for what? And you want to seed things just to make sure a kid gets a medal or we see certain matches wrestled in the semis or finals??? Let the kids wrestle, and let them decide the matches.  You don't always get what you deserve, you get what you earn.

Yes J, but they both lost to excellent highly ranked kids.

fair? no. but life isn't fair.

But they can get fairer. I didn't blame a system, I said it could be better. I don't mind a tough first rounder, but single elimination shouldn't be in use anymore either. I

Hurlburt has never lost to Roen.

195lbs is gonna intense, id go with Fielding still. Seufzer is the runner up at 195 returning, so I don't know what that guy brings to the table, so I cant predict a winner.

285lbs is between Lee Klimek  and Kauffman, I guess I'm going with Stratford's Kauffman at 285lbs. He's been on a roll since Bi-State.

106lbs I'm cheering for my hometown kid, he's got the roughest road out of the top 6 106lbers but he can do it. Kilty has a great chance to make the finals, she'll face Hauri or Anglin/Grzbowski in the semifinals I'm thinking.

138lbs I'd have to go with the Sr. Adam Becker, but wouldn't be surprised to see the freshman do what teammate Micah Johnson did 2 years ago.

The Weyauwega-Fremont kid didn't win the Bonduel Sectional at 106 by some sort of fluke. He was the best wrestler there. Kilty and Gryz are pretty even, and Fischer is better. I had him pegged for third coming in, but he made a believer out of me. Some of you are acting like the whole thing never happened.

At the state tournament there is always a skeleton key for every lock.

170:  Helton Vandenbush Random Lake over Pittz
195:  Hunter Huiras Random Lake over Fielding

Guess it's good that the boys from Random Lake don't read the forum!!  Kudos to Helton Vandenbush for winning a state championship that very few saw coming and to Depies and Huiras for knocking off everyone's pick to make finals (Huiras beat Ottum in the quarters as well).

Nutter will win 126.  That's a lock!

There is no such thing as a lock at the state tournament. Especially when there is another returning state champion in the bracket.
Someone did have a key to this lock, didnt they?
At the state tournament there is always a skeleton key for every lock.

I'm probably getting old when most under 40 won't know what I meant.   :-\

Skeleton key?  Cool.  Haven't heard or seen that term for a long time.  Yeah, you are officially an old fart.   ;)  Welcome to the club!
