Title: Longest Winning Streaks
Post by: coconut joe on February 08, 2016, 03:15:54 PM
I'm curious if anyone knows where to find who has the longest winning streaks in D1 wrestling.  I'd like to see where some badgers like Lee Kemp are on the list.

Here is all of the multiple time champs.  It does not show their overall win-loss record but does list names.

Gable 118 I think, Rick Sanders had to be close to 100, Hodges, Uetake, Koll had perfect season.
I check some places for perfect seasons. I don't think there are a lot of them.

Gable won 181 in a row before his loss to Owings ( that counts high school).
Otherwise, his streak was 117 in college.

Marcus LeVesseur won 296 in a row through his senior year  in college dating from his last loss in high school, probably as a 7th or 8th grader in Minnesota. His last 155 were in college.

Guys like Lee Kemp, John Smith, Mike Land, Jimmy Zalesky and Randy Lewis all had 80 plus strings.

I have to apologize to you Coconut. At this time of year, I am blasted with State questions. Sometimes an easy reply to another thread can be sarcastic. Sorry.

you're right.  I should have written a better question.  People are now responding with D3 wrestlers and high school stats. ::)

D3 is the worst. They shouldn't even bother keeping stats.

I believe the two longest active streaks in D1 are:
79 Nick Gwiazdowski - North Carolina State
70 Alex Dieringer - Oklahoma State

Has to do with LeVesseur's win streak, being a D- 3 guy.

Thanks for adding nothing, AF.

Jordan Burroughs won 69 in a row before Nick Marable defeated him.

fwiw....Osamu Watanabe lost in the1988 Olympics at age 47...somehow Japan wanted him to represent!
He did manage to win two matches prior to the loss.  189 in a row, actually.
