All they've done is create another weak conference. Most of the teams they added have little chance of fielding much of a team. It's a bizarrely top heavy, unbalanced conference. A conference with West Virginia and Utah Valley is odd.
The Big 12 had to merge with the MAC, pull-in Northern Iowa and Missouri, to make a meaningful conference. Adding EIWA would have been OK.
Disappointing, only good thing is it adds Wyoming to Big 12.
Edit: maybe they can pick-off Boise State from Pac-12. That would help a bit, at least create some regional rivalries.
